It's no better on the other side of the pond either. We have sports talk shows - thankfully I never watch them but snippets of them popping up on Twitter are unavoidable - of people giving rancid bad takes that are too inflammatory to possibly believe them to be true. Fucking Hollywood-type bullshit with the acting required. Lord knows I must have at least 100 really bad football/soccer takes and poor Inter fans have to see me type them regularly in our corner of the internet, but for better or worse at least I believe in what I'm saying when I initially write it. Maybe someone knocks some sense into me, makes me realize I'm a fucking moron, and I adjust my view after being given better perspective, but I'm not gonna call Inzaghi the greatest manager to walk the earth one week then be yelling for his dismissal the next either...I'm stupid but not that stupid and vapid.

The worst thing about the Club is they're very childish and immature about the Kick Off - Buvey calling out TG, doing a Tier List, saying the Kick Off fell off, pretending they never worked for the show... it's such an elephant in the room, it's embarrassing

I think it shows that youtube is treated as a business ultimately. Mark was saying it as well, the competition is so cutthroat that you try to force yourself up the ladder. I have no problem with Rory, Adam and Buvey trying to do that, but the manner in which they did (setting up the club within a week for the kick off splitting up) was really sad to watch. Especially Rory, as i remember him thanking Geordie for saving his life on the kick off christmas podcast just a year prior.

They make money based on shows done, it was not like they were on salary. And that season full table shows were very rare, only 4/5 when it was almost mid season. So saying it was a week thing (launching the club)fails to address big issue with management that was ongoing. They couldnt do the shows and as lawerence mentioned they were not contractually obligated. Fair play to everyone, they moved on.

If they'd done it at any other time because they decided thanks TG, we've enjoyed it but now we're moving on, it would be cool. But they did it right at the moment that their friend who pretty much built their careers for them put his foot in it and was thrown under the bus right when he needed their support the most. Lost all personal respect. They could have the best opinions in the game and I won't watch a minute.

Hugh Wizzy🕊️
@TommyGun180
@TommyGun180 2 ай бұрын
Whilst I feel somewhat sorry for True Geordie. People often forget that Hughwizzy was treated similarly, once he left the Kick Off, and replaced by that odious cretin Mckola. Wizzy was essentially retconned from history, and suddenly the viewers had to pretend along with the kick off crew, that Mckola was "One of the lads" from the start. So, as far as I am concerned, it's a little bit of karma.
@thomashart3473

How Huge was treated after he left. Was totally fucked up! Almost as if he never even existed. They never even acknowledge him, in a video they made about TKO's anniversary. The "New" intros, and graphics, were sickening. Like it was an attempt to brainwash viewers into accepting Mcrat.
@davyprendergast82
@davyprendergast82 2 ай бұрын
@@TommyGun180 I'm not sure what to make of this. Nobody knows who tells the truth in front of a camera, and I didn't see what if anything Hugh Wizzy had to say about it, but TG did address comments asking why Hugh wasn't there in an episode of the kick off, and he spoke kindly about him but said that ultimately because Wizzy had his own successful channel, the economics of him appearing on the kick off didn't work (presumably meaning Wizzy wanted more money, which is fair enough, as he did have his own significant YT presence so he could demand more. TG signed off by saying he has nothing but respect for him and loves the lad but they couldn't thrash out a deal.

I think Rory has shown himself to be a fake clickbait merchant who'd do anything to get some views. From pretending to be Brian's pal and doing a heartfelt 'thank you' video less than a year before his departure; to then seemingly cut and run without a word during a time Brian was under siege shows his true character. As Mark said in the podcast, the space has become oversaturated with mediocre clickbait merchants all doing the same thing and trying to get clicks with wild takes or over the top, unimaginative wind up 'banter'. Genuinely hope Loz and Brian can reconcile, their chemistry together was amazing

I don't even think it is football youtube but all of forms of football media where the opinions are just rage bait. When football media does this and you then look at the fans responses to it, I question how is it that people don't understand the football games that they have watched. One of the biggest problems in football media and with fans opinion wise is getting rid of players and managers, when rome was not built in a day and they need time. Before with a young promising talent you would slowly integrate them into the squad over a period of years, but now they are instantly being chucked in and expected to produce results. A manager has a good season at a new job then is instantly wanted by other clubs.

1️⃣ Ragebait from footballing podcasts are just the natural product of clickbaiting and disingenuous retention, sucks it has to be that way 2️⃣ As a former Lawrence Mckenna hater, I will say that he's matured the most out of The Kick Off and genuinely feel bad that he had to deal with the brunt of the downfall. His opinions on his personal channel nowadays are usually well-thought while still coming from passion. 3️⃣ I tried watching The Club when it first came out, but it was so difficult to watch as it became so corporate. If I was a new viewer I would have refused that the guys were friends outside of the show with every member looking like they work at a dead-end part-time job. 4️⃣ I'm so thankful that football content creators can grow if they out enough passion and hard work into it and also reinvent themselves into better channels like you had done. I look forward to what else you got to say about the footballing sphere. Cheers.

One issue for me.. Was when TTG appeared on Steven Bartlett's podcast, "The Diary of a Wanker". And he said out loud. Not just in his own brain. But in his indoor voice. "I DESERVE THIS.. I DESERVE TO BE LEADER IN MY OWN FIELD". That was one of the big moments I was like "yeahhhh, I don't like HIM anymore.." Also, towards the end of the old lineup, of TTG, Loz, Adam, Buvey and Roryboy. The videos they were uploading, were more and more fracturious and bitty. Like there was a video about the TV coverage of Erikkson's heart attack during the Euros. And it deteriorated into attacking Loz for basically saying "..the decision to cut away was wrong, but the BBC didn't have control of the camera feeds, and probably the guys back in the UK studio weren't ready to be cut back to. And yeah, it's really bad what was done". And it just got tense.. and boring...

While I don't necessarily agree with the way they left, I do understand it, but to never give props to Brian for giving them a career is pretty grim. The Kick Off was great but when they really started to bring Buvey in as a permanent member, I really believe the beginning of the end was happening. The dynamic didn't come across as authentic anymore and it also took a big hit after Hugh left for very justifiable reasons in his own right. I don't know Buvey but he gives the impression of a troublemaker and it wouldn't surprise me if he started to spin the wheels for the backstabbing that took place towards the kickoff. Sometimes people become the characters they portray and Buvey gave off a narcissistic rage-baiter vibe.

I would’ve agreed with you about The Club being wrong for leaving before I watched Laurence’s video. Laurence said they had no ownership, no contract for regular shows and things had been bubbling away under the surface. They (Rory, Adam, some extents Buvey) became 3/5 of the show but weren’t treated like that. So I don’t think it’s too surprising or unreasonable that they moved on.

Maybe, but that ignores them being able to push their own fledgling channels on back of kick off, often uploading stuff after the show. Their OTT reaction proved TG was right not to give them a piece of Kick Off. Mckenna is the worst of them.

Great video and some interesting insights. Though I’d still say we don’t know the full ins and outs of what went on, and likely (rightly) never will. In the podcast Loz actually says “me and Brian don’t have a relationship anymore”. Which is very very interesting because he continued to do stuff with him for a month or so after the incident. Think what you want about McKola, Rory and Buvey, but I think what is also fair to say is that they were left very exposed both financially and “reputationally” by the comments made. Also let’s remember that there was an ‘apology’ video made days after which could have saved the situation somewhat but was actually such a shambles that it made it worse and almost made a mockery of the situation. Loz pretty much admitted this too. And let’s be honest but who’s to say who should and who shouldn’t be offended by the comments made. What if certain individuals were offended and it made them think twice about wanting to be mates with someone who makes comments such as that? I don’t know, I do think that The Club lads need to stop poking little sly jibes here and there on their streams, a couple at first were relatively funny but after that it’s gotten a bit daft. Just pack it in. And I do think they should have had it out with TG, got round a table and aired it to each other, then go separate ways. But at the same time…. They do have their own careers, own lives, own families to think about and Brian had put his foot in it a few times, so can also see their reasoning for doing their own thing. Just trying to see both sides, I think a lot of videos weigh heavily one way or the other. And if you don’t like Buvey or Rory etc then it’s natural to want to label them as snakes etc. But good video. Subbed. some interesting stuff 👍🏼

The Club is just a poor man’s Kick Off, I think. Their unseemly click bait takes and comments are really embarrassing at times. And I got the Impression that Lawrence wanted to give his perspective without creating drama when he was talking to Goldbridge. If he had been completely honest he would have just said the obvious - the Club lads had bitten the hand that fed them by dropping TG at the earliest opportunity and shamelessly trying to re-create the Kick off. The trio act like they had something BEFORE working with Brian , but they had nothing of note

Last month I left a mildly questioning critical comment on a Laurence video, and he absolutely exploded on me. Wrote an entire condescending, backhanded screed. I was astounded, I've never been written such a rude, baiting, passive-aggressive message in my life, and I've been online a long time. It's not like I usually comment, or was harassing him--rarely do I even bother writing anything. So to me it felt unwarranted to berate me that way. Who knows, perhaps I caught him on a bad day/at a bad time, or accidentally used a word or phrase that sets him off, but even still he went too far. Lost all respect for him, and I didn't have more than a basic level to begin with. By contrast, Rory's only ever been genuine and polite in replying to me, likewise JLA & Flav and that lot, so perhaps it isn't all or most footballtubers like this, just Laurence.

reading some of the comments and its apparent many of you are young without family or responsibilities (beyond paying for things you want - kids, rent, bills, mortgage, future). I watched Mark Goldbridge's interview with Laurence and it was incredibly well done. I also think that Laurence was incredibly understanding of what occurred - very mature to understand that they had to do what they had to do to ensure they were ok. Rory has a young child I believe and honestly, no matter how difficult, that child would take precedence over friends - they have to. Laurence said he has been untouchable until recently. As a father of a young child, that would not have been thinkable for Rory. Could things have been done differently - yes! But Laurence admits they did things wrong. By keeping them on the "payroll" and not giving them part of the company (something Laurence said they should have done) TG and Laurence kept part of their relationship as business. I don't blame "the club" boys for doing the same. For all the commenting about how they put the kickoff down the list in the tiers, I didn't see that but honestly, it isn't what it was. It is a shadow of itself. It's what brought be back to watch EPL - I loved it. Like sitting with the gang watching and ribbing each other. It's not that anymore. I hope it does find its feet again.

You simply cannot expect three grown men with homes, families and responsibilities to stay in that environment. Brians own actions blew their trust, simple as. They were fully in their own right to leave in any fashion and do whatever they wanted. So no, they didn't stab him in the back, they did what they needed to, which was to provide for themselves and their families. For him to stay at a company where the boss doesn’t offer him a contract and jeopardises the already non-guaranteed payments, or for him to leave and gain financial stability elsewhere on a permanent contract? I think they’d prefer financial stability. If they were my close friends, I would have offered them permanent contracts and would not have jeopardised their families livelihoods. Conversely, if I had a company where I didn’t offer my friends contracts and I blew all of our sponsors, I would fully understand and actually expect them to part ways with me and go another path. I’d clearly not be trust worthy. It’s funny how you, a no one to these guys, calls them snakes and doesn’t understand their side of the story, but Lawrence, who ACTUALLY knew them and the in an outs of the situation, said he completely understands why they left and that they were in their own right to do so. My read on The Club situation is that Loz was fine with them doing it, but wishes they had gone about it a little differently. But I also take him at his word that the sting he felt from that has ebbed over time a bit, and he's kind of ready to just move past it. The failure to give those 3 guys a contract and cut them into a share of the steady KO income created a situation that was basically begging for them to be poached by someone trying to establish a competitor product. And that was TG and Loz's choice to let that situation linger. But, the coldness of the departure can still be critiqued.
