Nuh bro. They're actually in losses, but obviously they're happy with it. Because if they give cashbacks, offers, freebies, free delivery and other such perks to their customers, their turnover will increase, and hence the revenue. The revenue is the only element that triggers valuation. Profits are immaterial in that respect. So, because they stay immersed in losses, they're able to bag hefty valuations, and that gives them investors' money, which eventually helps them in securing a lucrative exit.

as per sec135 of Companies Act 2013.. Company walo ko bolaa jtaa ha ki apne profit se minimum2% CSR dene ko(Corporate Social Responsibility).. Compulsory nhi haa prr jo CSR dete haa us Co. ko bhott additional benefit vi milti haa

Actually its a common practice. After reaching a particular level of growth and profit if the business does not wish to expand , then it generally focuses on maximisation of shareholder's wealth(wealth maximisation concept) the gross profit that the business earns gets divided in to three things :- retained earnings ( amount set aside out of profit to finance the growth ) + dividends to shareholders + corporate tax.

that's stupid to assume everytime, it's a way to tempt to retail investors. profits leads to wealth maximization and hence increase investors confidence causing high market value hence high PE. startups nowadays operate on visions and dreams, and hence investors use that to pump the business then dump the same. mam is right, a business is only sustainable when it generates cash inflow, otherwise it's just burning investor's cash. and if you think they really gets huge tax relief on claiming losses that's not true everytime, government is proactive as to find and close loopholes in taxation, introduction of GAAP and Minimum Alternative tax is an example.

value creation requires cashflow or profit, otherwise you don't have any value, big investors just pump and dump cash or invest there surplus funds to park and save tax, these businesses are not suistainable according to me, if it's just burning money and not generating real value in form of profits or net positive cashflows.
