What do you think about Frank Sinatra's love life?
@akrenwinkle
@akrenwinkle Жыл бұрын
A crashing bore and a cringe. Not dozens of sexual encounters, not hundreds, but probably thousands... A-list, B-list, D-list actresses, dressing room quickies, hired party girls. It's like what some comic said about Elizabeth Taylor's latest fiance: "You knew what to do, but how do you make it interesting?" And please, everyone, spare me "you're just jealous." Nobody over 12 should say that.

I think it's funny at the end saying that too many people would have gotten hurt if Frank left Barbara for Nancy when the truth is that he would have been the one hurt by Barbara lol. Seriously, though, I recall hearing that Nancy encouraged Barbara to marry Frank and take care of him in his declining years. He went through the teenage sweetheart phase with her, the toxic can't live with them/can't live without them phase with Ava, the midlife crisis phase with Mia and needed someone who could provide him with stability, caring, and take no nonsense from anyone around him including him. He lived a thousand lives in his time on Earth and I wonder if he was ever truly happy for more than mere moments?

The best description of Frank Sinatra is in the book, "The Godfather", where the author has several fantastic chapters about Sinatra disguised as the crooner godson of the Godfather. The author was from the same area of New York and grew up absorbing the area of Hells Kitchen for his great descriptions.

It had to have been hard for a skinny, scared young man with a great voice to suddenly become every young girl's desire. The reputation as a player followed him his whole life. The romance and marriage to Ava was probably his real love, because she was equal to him and could give it right back. They were sort of Taylor and Burton, before Taylor and Burton. His marriage to Mia Farrow was a blip on the screen. He was 50 and just had a huge comeback, even knocking the Beatles off the charts. He was feeling his oats as a 50 year old and was proving a point to himself that he could get a young girl barely out of her teens. Mia was no match for Sinatra. She was young, immature and certainly not an adult !No matter how he lived his life, you can never deny his voice and his talent. His ledgend will live on forever.

I’ve never liked Sinatra. He had anger issues, and treated women poorly. Poor Nancy his first wife never marrying again is so sad. At least she was married long enough to get the house, and lifestyle she deserved. Ava Gardner is one of many actresses that had abortions as the studios did not want them getting pregnant.
