I remember in X and Y there was this old man in Anistar city who would ask to take care of a low leveled pokemon from you and after you beat the pokemon league he'd have passed away, happy to have a companion to take care of.

Pikachu knows surf, grass knot and disarming voice in Pokémon BDSP, so Pikachu might be fine

in bdsp, pikachu can learn grass knot by tm, and if u didn't know, grass knot inflicts greater damage on heavier pokemon, like garchomp

I honestly would say the saddest moment in pokemon was in gen 6 when there was an oldman in opelucid city where olympia's gym is he is alone in the house u give him a pokemon u return u find your pokemon and the house is empty the man is dead

Clearly if he gets perfect IVs, great natures, EV trains, uses (useful) egg moves, and has 6 Light balls, he just might stand a chance He has the time; it's like how Hmaz said, he's probably divorced and has only Pikachu in his life
