Is that set of Alnico V5 magnets or Alnico V and III magnets?. Can you explain me which is better? 🙏🏻 Thanks.

Hi there! Very good question! First of all, we not only offer both options (Alnico III or V) but also pickups with a combination of both, the latter of which is actually used in this video. What is better in terms of sound depends on your personal preferences. Each magnet has its own sound, an Alnico V magnet gives you a more modern sound and the Alnico III in comparison has a more vintage sound. For our J-Pickups that feature both, Alnico III is used for the lower strings (E and A) and Alnico V for the higher stings (D and G) and deliver a combination of both worlds. Our suggestion would be to try out basses in a store to determine what you like more. The choice between the two depends on individual player's preferences, playing style, and the desired sound aesthetic.

I’m very interested in the thinking behind this combination of alnico 3 and 5- I would have thought that the lower strings would benefit from the definition of alnico 5 while the potential harshness of the D and G would be lessened with alnico 3 (?).

Sounds like a whole new bass... I had to edit this as I realized end this is even without a Preamp installed, nice upgrade!!

Laklands have nice preamps so I’m not surprised about how well it fit with good pickups

Nothing compares to the sound of true singlecoils, all of those humcancelling j bass pickups sound plasticky in the mid range and brittle in the highs

is this pickups different of the sadowsky's pickups with stacked reels ? thank you

The Sadowsky pickups are much "darker" sounding. I put Bartolini pickups in my Fender Jazz bass which sound very similar. I have the Sadowsky preamp installed as well.

These are not the same pickups that come in the MetroExpress JJ are they? I have a JJ 5 in my wish list.

Hi Paul! No, the pickups used in this Video are the ones we use in our MetroLine and MasterBuilt production in Germany, featuring soft-touch covers and the Sadowsky hum-cancelling construction. These specific ones used in the video are a combination of Alnico III and Alnico V magnets. We also offer them in either Alnico III or V for all pole pieces to cover a wide range of tonal preferences. Hope this was helpful!

HMMM, Just might be thinking about these for My Japan Geddy Bass, Although I do love the stock tone of that bass, but there is some hum.

Is it possible to install this on warwick basses? Such as the streamer? Replace the existing mec?
@SadowskyInstrumentsOfficial7 ай бұрын
Hi there! It depends on the pickups and electronics built into your bass. If your bass already got passive Pickups like an all passive Streamer CV you can change it, but if your instrument has active pickups you need to change the electronics as well to match the passive Sadowsky pickup's wiring. It is recommended to let a guitar tech at your local shop perform an installation for you, who also can make recommendations on fitting preamps if needed. Hope this was helpful.
