Check out our article about The Safest Low Tax Countries in the World
nomadcapitalist.com/global-ci...
As a seven or eight-figure investor or entrepreneur, you probably want to live in one of the safest low-tax countries in the world. So you can enjoy spending your wealth without no concerns about any crime.
Even if it’s just petty theft, it can ruin your day, especially if it is an expensive watch or piece of jewelry with sentimental value. You can buy the watch again, but it’s still annoying. If you live in a country where this sort of crime is prevalent, you will want to move to a safe country.
However, if your country has an epidemic of violent crimes like murder, you are likely to overlook petty theft in favor of a lower murder rate.
There are also countries full of abductions of people who can afford to pay for it, and you don’t want to live there. So, what should you do?
How can you ensure that your nomad family and your wealth are safe?
In this video, Andrew shares a lot of countries that are safer than the USA.

The fact that you can leave your purse in your shopping cart for even a nanosecond in America is still amazing to me. I am from Argentina and it would be stolen every time haha. People wear their backpacks on the front there, that's how bad stealing is. In fact my American husband and I have a codeword now, I tell him "Honey, wear you backpack on your front" and he knows we're in that kind of place. It didn't even work in Barcelona! He (was a marine!) was mugged on the Rambla anyway.

Knowing the area makes a big difference. I lived most of my life in Miami which left most of my relatives in other states fearing for my safety. The headlines were always full of murders but if you weren't involved in illegal activities you were probably safe from 98% of the mayhem. Other than that just use common sense about where you would go and which places to avoid after dark. I follow the news for the town where my friends reside in Ecuador and it's the same thing there, people get murdered every day, almost always related to illegal activities. My friends feel safe and take the same precautions I would here.

I've never felt more unsafe than St. Louis in the last 6-8 years. I actually thought I was getting shot at a gas station in December filling up my rental car before dropping off at the airport. There are NO safe areas near STL to fill up. It's not just murder, in Indonesia, Cambodia,m Vietnam, and especially Thailand your chances of dying in a traffic accident far exceed that of being murdered in the United States. In Thailand, driving is so insane and childish that it affects the quality of life. Accidents from shoddy electric work and construction are also common here. The heat in Southeast Asia is unbearable, especially around April, 40 Celsius with 60% humidity.

@Oki Bangkok is the warmest city in the World. Phoenix actually gets hotter at times but it cools at night and certain times of the year. Bangkok seldom goes below 80 even at night and almost never below 70. The humidity is unbearable. Your air conditioner takes on the importance of a Heater in Alaska. There's good and bad, the warm evenings and nights are lovely but overall the heat lowers the quality of life especially with 60% humidity. All is SE Asia is like that.

Loved this video, Andrew. You should do it again with 2022 numbers (they are already available and easily found) but then compare the 2018 numbers to the 2022 numbers, and talk about which ones are going in the "right direction". Might be fun if you put together your own spreadsheet with arrows on it and a column for each year. Maybe look at 3 different crime stats (homicide, burglary, rape).

Wayyy more dangerous than Mexico, since its usually 1,200 - 1,500 murders a year being just a 100mile wide island. Mexico is safer than many US cities and its given a bad reputation by US State Dept since Mexico is taking all tourism from the US.

Great channel and fascinating overview of staying alive globally. Still wonder why folks would prefer an unfamiliar place to a familiar one, unless the threat to your safety was imminent at home. So, why move from a safe, familiar neighborhood in your home country to a safe, unfamiliar one in a foreign country? Maybe the higher tax you pay in you home country is the price of the familiarity you enjoy there. There almost always seems to be a vague unsettling feeling you get when in a foreign country no matter how beautiful, culturally rich, and socially active it might be. What this means to me is that a person would have to have an extremely strong incentive to move away from home. Definitely appreciate AH making us aware of the personal safety side of global nomadism.

Being born and having grown up in Medellín/Colombia in the 80’s and 90’s with Pablo Escobar and all that (back when it was the most dangerous city on the planet) as a kid/teenager I kind of started finding it normal to be in constant danger of shootings, kidnappings, robberies, car bombs, etc, at some point it all becomes as normal as breathing. Fast forward 20 years living in the boring/peaceful Netherlands, it’s kind of insane to think I used to find all of that normal, I’m glad about the insane safety levels of my life these days. It’s also weird though that every time I travel back to Colombia my mind instantly switches back to that “used to danger” mode and finding it normal.

Context is everything. Nationwide rates of anything isn't terribly relevant. You need to get granular to figure out if an area is suitable for living in. We live 30 minutes east of Atlanta. I don't worry about crime much at all because we don't really have any. 15 minutes closer to the city and crime goes up quite a bit. 30 minutes+ and South Atlanta is a whole other ball game, getting close to the south side of Chicago, in terms of murder and general violent crime. His comments on New Zealand had me laughing: $NZ3,000,000 for a shack! That's why we can't move back home to be closer to family. That and the fact that it is becoming a totalitarian shit hole, full of socialists and docile emasculated men. Going forward, personal freedoms is going to be the currency that I, my wife and a lot of other commonsense people will care about. If the country embraced stripping freedom of movement and threatened your livelihood in order to get mystery juice in you, then I'm out. New Zealand and Australia are dead to me.

@@gaijinsan5809 what you mentioned goes under the "use common sense" category. I've been to bad parts of St. Louis and I'm white, so obviously I wasn't killed if I'm writing comments here. Your "implied math" is incorrect and misleading. Especially regarding Switzerland. The minimum wage in Switzerland is about $ 20.00 per hour. Which is nothing. It is an average of $ 40,000 to $ 48,000 per year, with SOME overtime, if they are allowed to work it. The tax rate is about 11.5 % in Federal taxes and an average of 36 % to 38 % in Cantonal taxes. That is about 49 % in annual taxes. In a country where the average rent for a one bedroom apartment is $ 1,300 to $ 1,600 per month.....about $ 19,200 per year. So, the "Net Income" is about...$ 24,000 per year and out of that comes $ 19,000 per year just in rent - - before utilities and.....FOOD. Don't even think the Swiss have it easy. They do not. They work very hard for an average "less than middle class" lifestyle.

Thanks Andrew, I was about to sell my house and move to Sudan or Syria thanks to your video 🤣 BUT.... 1. I know middle class expats who have recently lived in Colombia, Mendoza in Argentina, Bulgaria and Mexico City. The common denominator is you have a bullseye on your back for panhandling and property crime. As an expat. good luck calling the police in any of these places if you are robbed , threatened or in a car accident. My friend in Argentina had to routinely bribe the police just to come out. Each of them feels safer overall in the USA. 2. Remember, Andrew works with multi millionaires. As a middle class expat, you will not likely be much safer based on where and how you live overseas. Murder? If someone doesn't live in the inner city or is involved in drugs, chances of getting murdered or shot in the USA become less than miniscule. Yes, the current admin is soft on crime and pandering for votes, but the overwhelming majority of expats are safer in USA. 3. Andrew does not account for more countries are electing leftist govts, such as Colombia recently, who are inward looking and contributing to xenophobic, less expat friendly sentiment. I could go on but I'm getting carpal tunnel 😁 This channel does have good content but this video has no context , outdated data and looks at murders ina vaccum.
