If you look in the rocks the copper nails off the lifeboat are still there. My father was on watch at Port Talbot with the Coastguard that night he always said how horrendous it was that night. I've not long retired after 43 years Coastguard and 12 years on lifeboat I've work many times with the excellent crews at Porthcawl

I grew up (In Porthcawl) with tales of the Santampa. Dad was recently demobbed from RAF Air Sea Rescue, was managing the Royal Oak, and was called out to help. Mum walked the beach the next day and found what looked like a log covered with oil, but turned out to be a body.

My mother was staying at Sker farm with her family on the night of the disaster and was down on the beach in the morning. Such a sad loss of life for the ships crew and the lifeboat crew 😢

Well done Marcus a nice follow up video. I have visited the wreck at low tide and found it with little bother from your previous video. I agree the remembrance plaque is more difficult to find. I was lucky to see a local who pointed me in the right direction.

Been there on a 0.5m tide and saw just about the same amount of the boilers . In your other video you have great footage of them what tidecwas that and what time of year was it?( if you can remember) would love to see more if it …. My late mother lived in Aberkenfig and can recall oily smears on my grandparents house windows the wind was so strong it carried a ‘ fine mist’ well inland
