@@_AVC_ no one has made a video on whether the spurs are actually tanking this year. I really think all this loosing in intentional. experimenting with the PG position minutes restrictions before there were injury concerns. It's almost like they let the media run with the "they suck but wemby is great" narrative to hide that they are intentionally tanking again. I mean the owner was in Paris watching Risacher. Come on. I actually really agree with this take. I don’t know if dlo is the right fit, I think a more defensive minded pg, who is a good facilitator would work. But dlo might be a nice look to see how the prototype should be built out around wemby for the long term.

Yeah exactly my thought. DLo isn’t on their timeline but he is who would be available and it gives them a legitimate pro at PG (I like Tre but DLo is an obvious upgrade). Spurs also have Raps top 6 protected pick so if it lands 7 they could get a PG like Sheppard or Dillingham. Collins literally has been shooting 30% and 4% from 3 for 3 months and all opposing players he guards average 63%. Him and Branham are two of the worst rated defenders in the whole league. Collins is not an nba player anymore.
@_AVC_

That pick is huge and something I totally forgot about! I think them taking a guard there makes so much sense. Dillingham is someone I don’t have a super solid opinion on yet so I’ll need to watch more film. I’ve never been a fan of Collins or Branham personally so I can sympathize with the take. Branham is solid offensively but you can definitely find better. Collins has had some really productive runs so I think it’s probably hard to say he should be out of the league. Like I said I’m not that high on him either, but we have seen the production before. I think the bench role isn’t working for him and unfortunately he isn’t getting back into the first 5 so he’ll need to figure it out.

I like your thinking and I'm assuming you're working with limited knowledge of this roster so not a bad job. Graham's contract is not guaranteed after this season so he won't be on the roster. Sidy Cissoko will might move up from the G League and grab a roster spot as an on ball guard. There's a logjam of young players on this roster who aren't going have the time to develop here so there's a good chance a couple might be traded away for a PG. Maybe not Trae but there's a need for veterans who will play and they'll clear out some young talent to do it.
@_AVC_
@_AVC_ 4 ай бұрын
Yeah Graham can have his contract get cut by like $9 Mil or something, I suppose that would make a difference and you could even make the case they may cut him. Cissoko does have a roster spot already so that money is what it is. Good point though, with a little extra cash we could definitely get another solid vet on this squad!
@breeda9196
@breeda9196 3 ай бұрын
Idk where these illogical trade scenarios come from. Spurs notoriously don't deal with the Lakers. Dlo is getting up in age. Spurs are pushing for longevity to seek another dynasty run of 5 chips before pop hangs it up. You don't do that by trading for dwindling talent. You stockpile picks and build from within. Exactly the game plan they're executing to the tee. Trae young can stay in ATL with Dejounte or seek tades to other destinations rather than SA. If we land Alexandre Sarr it's game over for the league. Lol
@_AVC_
@_AVC_ 3 ай бұрын
I guess what trade are you talking about? The DLo thing is a signing. He has a player option this season and he is making less than the starter average so the presumption is he opts out. In the video we say we would lure him away with a short term high value contract. Like you said it’s not worth giving up assets for something like that so that’s why you just sign DLo and don’t make a trade for a PG. Gives you an immediate talent upgrade and someone that should have a really nice mesh with Wemby. If I’m misinterpreting something in your comment let me know though!

Thx for the vid, but that's not how cap space works. You can't go over the salary cap to sign free agents unless you have their bird rights. Also, less than 3 million of Graham's salary is guaranteed for next season so most likely they just cut ties with him in the offseason and eat the ~3 million in dead money. That'll save them around $10 million. Bassey and Champagnie have non-guaranteed salaries, so cutting them could save a bit of money. Problem is for any roster spot under 13, you have to add a cap hold that is worth the minimum, so the savings wouldn't be quite as much as it seems. You also have to add a cap hold for the upcoming first round pick(s). Overall, it's probably possible the Spurs could create enough cap space to sign Russell outright with your projected figures but it's not as simple as outlined in this video. Otherwise, it would have to be via a sign-and-trade with the Lakers. As an aside, I don't like Russell in SA though.

Trae young has 2 year contract and a lot of turn overs ....spurs must wait for his contract to end like this no trade picks only money and risacher and wemby will spend time together before having a point guard

I’m not sure I completely followed this comment but I think you said don’t waste assets on a guard right now and be patient. If so I agree!

its been confirmed that the spurs will heavily pursue trae young this offseason, im pretty sure he’ll be in SA start of next yr

I mean we never really know a team’s intentions, but it’s hard to pass up on a young all star level player. You think it’s a good thing for them to go after?

@@_AVC_im more worried with how much Trae Young is willing to be coached than his fit actually. Pop is gonna be coaching hard and shouting at him no matter if he is an all-star or not, wemby loves that style and wants to be held accountable for his mistakes, he said it several times and Wemby setting the exaple like that will allow pop to keep coaching the way he knows how, but if Trae comes and start going against pop because of his coaching style its gonna be a shitshow and the Spurs will be in a Kawhi Leonard situation once more.

@@UrameshiKun That’s actually a really interesting point! I wanna build off that idea… This reminds me of when Lamarcus Aldridge went to SA. Him and Pop got into it a bunch at the beginning. They ended up “settling” their beef by Pop saying he’ll let LA do whatever on offense as long as he would listen to him on defense. Now I feel like that won’t quite work with Trae. Trae is not an off ball play and the Spurs always play a very swing heavy offense. LA at least somewhat played that way so I would assume that’s why it kinda worked. So yeah I think you’re right that it’s just not a good fit. We could talk about why the business move doesn’t make sense either but I wont elaborate on that if people don’t ask lol.

@@_AVC_ I'd much rather the Spurs go for a player like Darius Garland than Trae Young if they are making a big move on a young guard. Even tho I think Trae is on another level of talent Darius Garland fits more what the Spurs operate in in terms of offense. Also he's on a down year and I feel like they could trade him for a very win-win scenario if the cavs don't have a great playoff run.

@@justinbires6283 Love the logic of this, I completely agree. I don’t know if they are trading Garland but that fit would be awesome!
