It is an enigma, a shinning light that comes to the aide of the Blood Angels Chapter of Space marines whenever their need is direst.
Is it an ancient warrior, a psychic emanation or a splintered shard of a Primarch's soul?
All tales are fan fiction, taken from existing lore videos, and designed to provide an easy access to the setting of Warhammer 40000, the Grim Darkness of the Far Future. Probably badly, but some enjoy them.
They should never be considered cannon.

This audio drama, once again, put me to tears. The first Blood Angels audio drama did the same thing - it was then I knew that I wanted to make a Blood Angels army for my first army. This is beautiful sir, like a divine work, as if the hand of God created it sir, through you. 🕍🩸

The Sanguinor is an oddly heartwarming part of the usually unforgiving universe. It's either a benevolent daemon birthed from the Blood Angels brothers' collective love for their Primarch and noble spirit, or a piece of Sanguinius's soul preserved to aid his sons in their darkest hours. Either way, Sanguinius left a legacy that is more than sons as cursed as they're noble, but a glimmer of hope and love persevering.

As they say there is no grimdark with no hope, for such a world would just be grimderp. Hope is what gives all of the terror, destruction and death a meaning. A candle in an endless fog of darkness. A lit candle that keeps the shadow at bay with a small yet bright flame.

The Sanguinor is a being that shows the noblest aspect of both the Blood Angels and their successors, and their most beloved father perhaps spirit that continue to guide his sons in these Dark Days. An Angel who shines the very light within the every beings who carried the blood of their Primarch, and one who has saved them in their most darkest hour and the consumption of the Red Thirst and Black Rage.

I love the blood angels, they were my first army when I got into the hobby. I resonate with them far more than any other chapter for I used to have terrible anger issues but got help and when I heard about them when I got into the hobby and their whole "we don't let the anger define us, we choose who we are" I knew they were the one for me. The ba live by two groups of tenets The angelic graces of honour, humility, mercy, restraint and forgiveness and the warriors virtues of strength, savagery, abandon, rage and detachment and that they should be balanced, not to give in to one or the other but to know the time for each and act accordingly. They slip, fall and make mistakes but they forever forge onwards and strive to be better and that to me makes them the most human. "The sons of Sanguinius fear neither heretical abomination nor xenos monstrosity. We have faced the terrors that lurk within our own minds and seen the snarling beasts that seek to claw their way up from the depths of our souls. What can the foe threaten us with compared to that?" Brother Nicomaeus of the Sanguinary Guard. And a quote from skyrim fits them as well What is better? to be born good or to overcome your evil nature through great effort? Amazing video, I love the way you tied the story to the mustering at Abundance Tertius. As for the established lore, that last part about the fate of the original Sanguinor after the Heresy is outdated. The book Ruinstorm shows he took Sanguinius' place to hold the daemon of the Ruinstorm in place while the 3 legions withdrew from Davin and proceded to orbitally bombard the planet, destroying the portal. The Herald of Sanguinius was taken by the Warp, and Sanguinius saw how the ceramite wings attached to his backpack unfolded and stretched, so it implies quite heavily that the original Sanguinor became some sort of psychic creature, similar to how Meros became the Red Angel on Signus Prime, but free of chaos taint.

The Sanguinor really needs a model update. It was the model that made me pick Blood Angels when I was first starting to play. That was back in 5th edition though and he's starting to look underwhelming along side the newer kits with his static pose.

So so beautiful, and it catches the aspect that makes my heart go out to the Blood Angels every time - the utter, heartfelt ROMANCE of them. Romance of the old stories of knightly heroes kind, of glorious last stands, of brotherhood, of the struggle for the soul. A fight for something higher and greater. And no, we don't need to know what exactly the Sanguinor really is. We just need the new model 😅

I think it’s possible the sangionor is the primarch himself, sort of astral projecting from the past. The warp knows no time, and he did have future sight. My personal theory is that he is a minor warp god who the emp combined with sanguinius, but was then released upon his death. Basically the “it’s half his soul” theory, but extra. Bal has a religion of 2 battling angels before the imperium. And of course all the sanguinius worship in the imperium powers up this minor god of order.

Dude! That story you wrote for the intro was fantastic! I always really dig your fanfictions. But I really enjoyed this one especially. Firstly because I actually am not very familiar with the Sanguinor. But also, I saw what you did with the consistency in this one. I really dug how toward the end of the battle, how are you described their only being two blood angels Left alive. And the surviving one (the narrator) looked into the eyes of his dying battle brother. At first I was all like - (what the hell?! Are you telling me that during this battle the blood angels were losing this astartes was fighting with his helmet off?!) But then after giving a second listen and I realize that when their Captain is slain, all of the blood angels took off their helmets and growled and howled. So it made a lot more sense. That was a very nice subtle touch that added some consistency. And also a great justification for why he would be fighting with his helmet off. I've always felt like the idea of Space Marines fighting with their helmets off was dumb. But that was a nice little nuance that made it make more sense. As always, great job my guy.

I hope GW doesn't ruin the mystique of The Sanguinor as they have the Emperor and the creation of the Astarties. The missing history and mystery of the past makes the 40K all the more interesting. I'd like to think that The Sanguinor is the noble shard of the Blood Angels primarch, called forth from the warp in times of incredible need.

I Just saw the trailer for Space Marine 2. I'm super excited about that. It even gives me a little hope that maybe Square Enix will bring out a new entry for the Legacy of Kain franchise since that fanbase has been hoping for a new entry as well. Anyway, I've been thinking about Fulgrim and Sanguineious and I wonder if there were stories of Fulgrim expressing jealousy of him. If not there should be a 40k Story where Fulgrim finds out that Sanguineous was originally meant to be Slaenesh's greater champion had he sided with Chaos. Where it was revealed that Dark Prince of Pleasure found Sanguineous's Angelic appearance to be beautiful and desirable for its lustful appetites and saw him as a better battle commander and wanted him instead of Fulgrim, but Sanguineious resisted and pushed back the Dark Princes temptations and manipulations before he died. Which in turn makes Fulgrim burn with such jealousy where even in death Sanguineous's name remains a thorn in his side and decides to lead a campaign to wipe out the Blood Angels and fails at it. With Commander Dante avenging Sanguineous against the Traitor Primarch, and his chapter beating Fulgrim and his forces back into the warp.
