I can buy Sarah Jane trusting Ruby here, as Ruby has messed with her mind and made her lose her usual caution. It is very affecting to see Sarah Jane so vulnerable, and Lis gives a poignant portrayal here of someone worried that they are losing their mind. Julie Graham is very good too as Ruby - although you never fully trust her, she is convincing enough when pretending to be one of the good guys to make the viewer have an element of doubt as to whether she really is a villain. In answer to your question, Lis was still in good health when she filmed this story in the summer of 2010. Her cancer diagnosis came the following February, and she passed away two months later, so it was all shockingly fast.

Mr Smith said the 'illness' affected her cognitive ability meaning brain function so thats why she didnt reeally think too much about it.

Last story of the season you only have 3 stories left😢 Elizabeth sladen died during filming next season I'm so glad you are finishing this series btw you should watch survivors Julie Graham who you just seen is in the 00s remake of the series

Sarah is normally on top of things, but what Ruby did to her affected her mental faculties.

One of my fave episodes! The Dark Horde need a full episode in Doctor Who because they’re so cool! The cast is just full of such good actors and this story is beautiful and also hard to watch.
