Let's not forget to count Carvahal, Lucas Vasquez and Nacho among the legends of the Ronaldo era. It was Lucas who got that all-important penalty advantage for Madrid in the last quarter-final UCL match against Juventus. Two years ago it was Nacho who motivated his boys when Madrid desperately needed 2 goals in their UCL encounter with Man City at the Bernabeu, by saying to them over and over, "Confiamos hasta el final!" And the miracle did happen.

It seems very likely that they will be the dominating team in Europe in the next decade. But in football you never know. When they won the 2002 Champions League after signing Figo and Zidane and then signed Ronaldo (el phenomeno) in the next transfer period people also thought they would be unstopable. They didn't win the Champions League for twelve years.

That’s because back then Perez was a fool but he learned from his mistakes. His sold Makelele and Cambiasso because he said he didn’t see what they were contributing to the team. The years that followed were horrible because opposition players used to just run through our midfield. Madrid tried everything to fill that gap but nothing worked. It wasn’t until Madrid signed Xabi Alonso in 09 that Real finally were able to replace those two players

In the case of signing the brasilian Ronaldo a lot of people thought the answer would be yes, in hindsight the answer was no, since they didn't win while he played for them. In the case of Mbappe I think the answer will probably be yes, but this example shows that in football you never know. Overall Real will always be the most successful team in the UCL, whether they will be the dominating team in the next couple of years remains to be seen, although it is likely.

Madrid started to fall when Vicente del Bosque was fired as a coach and also when Makelele left the team to sign with Chelsea. That was something unexpected. Madrid stars at the time were all around 30 years old. Antoher key thing is that Barcelona signed Ronaldinho. That was what happened. And the fall began when Madrid signed Beckham, not when they signed Ronaldo Nazario. Now look at Madrid stars, Vinicius is 24 years old. Ancelotti is still there and the right guy to manage the Madrid monster team. And at the moment Barcelona is in bankruptcy.

Mbappe coming to Real Madrid can sound scary for the rest of teams, but it could actually result in a serious disruption. Today, RM is winning everything without one real star shining above the rest. Bringing Mbappe could disrupt the spirit, the atmosphere, the team. Hope not, but we'll see.

I don’t know if they’ll treat Mbappè as a super star on the same level as PSG. Vini is genuinely good enough to contend with him on the left. He might even be forced to play striker because his qualities are a mix of a ST and LW whereas Vini is purely a LW. And there are other superior talents that PSG doesn’t have (Warren-Zaïre Emery is debatable and still younger and logically not on the same level): Camavinga, Tchoumani, Arda Güler, Endrick coming soon, Rodrygo already an established top quality world-class talent, Bellingham who‘s stardom is reaching Mbappé’s levels. And Endrick who is more hyped up in Brazil than Endrick and Vinicius were, is said to be the most hyped around the level of Neymar. The truth is, at RM Mbappé is comparatively just the best. The best, but on the same stage as the rest.
