Great stories. I had the pleasure of meeting Adam when he was racing a Legend car, if I remember correctly, at Florence Speedway in Timmonsville, SC. He must have been about twelve at the time and hung around our trailer some. I thought he was a great kid just from that small amount of time around him. I also got to be around Kyle's family one year in Nashville at the Mark Collie Celebrity Legend Car Race and was impressed with all of them. My very first autograph was Richard at Columbia Speedway in Cayce, SC back in the 1960s. A quality family through and through for sure.

Enjoy this podcast so much. Kyle mentioning LeeRoy Yarbrough, Mike Beam. So many great stories. These are the people and my heroes that I grew up watching. Thank you Rick and Steve. You need to get Sam Sommers on your podcast.

I had the pleasure of meeting Adam Petty at Langley Speedway In Hampton Virginia when he was testing for an upcoming ASA race (which he later won).. he was everything you could have wanted in a son, Kyle we still miss him today as we know you do, he was something special for sure... hope you are well our friend... and enjoy your music still to this day. Steve and Rick... love your shows. and podcast. I grew up hearing Al Pearce and Billy Wood stories of voodoo hexes on engines and other David Pearson/Darrell Waltrip stories , anything you could do to share more folklore stories like the misty sea's etc... At 16:16 talk about to going to a movie in Dover,Del. with Tim Richmond and Tim Richmond told him that he will be dated the actress ( Kelly LeBrock ) in the movie. A month later Tim Richmond was going out with this movie star and Kyle think it was "The Woman In Red" (1984) movie. After Kyle mention kid actors in the movie was going crazy over this actress ( Kelly LeBrock) sound like the "Weird Science" (1985) movie. "Weird Science" (1985) movie the two kid actors Wyatt and Gary made a computer generated girl (Kelly LeBrock) out of Barbi plastic doll.

I remember taking my son to Elko speedway in Minnesota to see you in the Mello yellow car . Stood in line for your autograph for 2 hours and they pulled you to start the race in the pace car I believe. Never got your autograph 🙃😟

In the 90's id buy those scanner sheets to listen to teams on my scanner.... I got a shock listening to Kyles freq ! He was the most foul mouthed yeller of all teams scanned.... 3/4's of way thru race most Freqs went offline as teams switched to unlisted freqs to hid their strategys.... This was 94-98 when i was huge into those.... We went to Daytona 500's and first few night pepsi daytona races. spring bristol and atlanta... Kyles was always interesting to listen in on....

I do remember very clearly when KP was steaming after losing the million dollar bonus that Felix put up in the 93 Daytona 500. KP didn't even talk to the media, Which no one could blame him.

My dad picked up Kyle at the airport in Portland or Seattle for a N W series race. Kyle said move over I am driving. Till the day he died he said that was the scariest he ever was in a car.

I always related to Kyle because him and I have a similar situation/relationship with our fathers. What sucks is Kyle never really had the chance to improve the father son relationship with Adam long term.
