10 жыл бұрын

Welcome to the seventh episode of season 2 of The Sci Guys. In this episode we will be racing liquids to test the viscosity of liquids. We use multiple liquids in our viscosity of liquids experiment and show you how to set up the liquid viscosity experiment and time our results to see which liquid has the highest viscosity and which has the lowest viscosity. The Viscosity of liquids can affect how they are used in science.

Thanks for great information about viscosity. But, there's something I wanna ask. Is it possible to find viscosity on sand? 'cause, there's sand that act like liquid and can be move too like liquifaction soil. If it possible, how we can do it?

Does viscosity affect a solvent's ability to dissolve compounds from a solute? For example, if I were using water to clean fabric, should it be warm or hot (>100c)? And if water is a better solvent at higher temps is this mostly due to the fact that the solute is more soluble at higher temps, or is it mainly due to the water's effectiveness as a solvent at higher temps? From what I read, water is less effective at cleaning and brewing tea/coffee at lower temps, but if viscosity improves its ability to dissolve shouldn't it be the other way around?

Hello. Many years ago in high school my science teacher had a clear non toxic liquid of which would add a couple drops into his fish tank. This produced the effect of lowering the waters' viscosity. The fish would swim normally but bump into the sides of the tank. Do you have any idea what that compound might have been or something similar. I know that a surfactant can do this. Am working on a hydro mechanical project in which water has pretty much all the ideal characteristics but would like to lower it's 'stickyness' just a bit more. Thx
