I do something similar - but tie a long bit of fishing line to it for easier removal (same setup it great for snail removal: let them swarm over it and slowly lift the lot out)

Good one dude. I tend to poke a forked branch into the substrate and skewer the goodies to it.. mind I do have deep 5’’ substrate in my 6ft tank ..

i put shishkebab sticks in sliced cucumbers and make a cucumber brigde

I put mine on a skewer and dig it into the substrate. They love it as do all the fish ❤

Going to try this. Got one of these guys a couple of years ago. He's grown considerably and has some nice 'branches' on his nose already. Not a big fan of light though.

I hate shorts, so can't believe i'm on here. But this is something that doesn't get talked about enough. Not just Pleco, but most fish and shrimp will take fruit and veg, It can also be leftover scraps for those on a budget due to government corruption. Mango stones, melon rind, kiwi peel, broccoli stalks, cabbage and greens stalks, pepper tops, lettuce hearts, tomato flesh. I'm lucky to have a few fruit trees, my shrimp go crazy for cherries and pears. The world is your lobster, steer clear from banana it clouds the water after a day. Also peach, plum, nectarine stones make great botanicals when dried and boiled.

Good stuff, but I wouldn't use random metal things for it. Metal is in most cases bad for fish and shrimp.

Try carrot, my plecs used to get orange leading edges to their pectoral fins on carrot 🥕 😀

Do you cook it first?

Why do you need to put something in them? Is it to sink them?

Do you have to blanch it first or do the plecos like it al dente?
