This video Deals dramatically with the fight for survival in a life raft after a ship's company has abandoned ship.
It shows both the consequences of panic and the inability to obey the basic principles of survival, and the successful outcome of playing it cool and 'by the book'. The film is intended for all new Officer and Rating entries of the Royal Navy and was used from 1976.

Bit different to the course I did in 1999 when I worked for Marine Harvest. We had a life raft and all that but the course was held at Kyle of Lochalsh swimming pool which is about the size of a foot spa! I was going out with a Chief who was diver who trained baby divers at Horsea….pretty sure he shat his kidneys out laughing at our course!

One of the things they tell us now is not to tie flotations together ..more likely of capsizing when waters are worse

Shame they are using film and TV people rather then really ratings and officers to make this stuff.

Best to use professional I think. Actors are trained and paid to be able to impersonate others.....ratings aren't trained or paid to act.....now had they been filming a training session, I can see using ratings and instructors.
