Hello everyone and welcome to a new Age of Wonders 4 series! Thank you all for participating in the poll, which had an overwhelming victory for Olwë and the Falmari Sea-elves. You can jump straight in to this new journey at 8:20, see the beginning of our strategy at 23:50, delve in to our first Wonder -- hopefully of many -- at 58:24, and overcome a Tier 5 Mythic unit at 1:46:26. Megacities has imposed a lot more restrictions than I expected, but things seem to be going well so far. I also don't know how I feel about the Immortals modifier, but maybe it'll help out the AI in their terrible tendency to lose stuff? I've only watched the first hour so far, but i needed to comment before i forget what i wanted to say. Turning Allied victory off doesnt mean you cant have alliances, it just means that if your ally wins you do not win. You can still win normally. Secondly, Immortals is really weird, especially when you have to dismiss units later to make room for better units since nothing dies. Materium and nature are good for immortals though because they give access to units that evolve (if you get the wildlife santuary you can recruit spiders, and the cooper golems evolve into iron). Thirdly, definitely pick up terramancy at some point, if for nothing else to get ride of the mountains blocking your expansion to the south. Finally, get fisheries, and the seafarer's guild. Seafarer's guild is very good, giving extra food, gold, draft and production to each fishery.

I wonder If Blint Eastwood will just be a fixed point for these series or not🤔 But no matter, he will remain the most honorable and loyal of AI's.

Since you asked for lore on the founding of Gondor: The First Ship King moved his surviving people to Gondor, after Numenor proper got the Atlantis treatment. It was Sauron who convinced the last Numenorian King to invade the land of the Valar, and the Valar broke their oath of non-interference for the first time by destroying the entire island nation utterly. Sauron's original, shape-shifting body died in the cataclysm, and his spirit fled to Mordor, to build a new form out of shadow, fire and malice. In response, the Valar sent The five Wizards to guide Middle Earth in their defense against Sauron, as a sort of middle ground between the Fantatic Isolationism that had doomed the Sea Elves, and straight up nuking the continent of Middle Earth off the face of Ea. The cataclysm was so powerful, that it changed the World of Men from flat to round. Elves still live on a flat world, which is why their ships can sail Frodo to the Blessed Realm, but Men can no longer go there without elven aid. Moral Laws are higher than Physical Laws in Middle Earth. To Men, it looks like their ships sail tangent to the curvature of the Earth, and off into the sky. The First King of Numenor was Elros Half-elven, whose father Eärendil the Mariner (no relation to the Mariner King of the Falmor, as Eärendil was the son of two half-Noldor of different clans) sailed into the sky with the last Silmaril, and became a well known star. He was still sailing out there at the end of the Third Age (i.e. when Sauron dies again) Elros and Elrond were brothers. Like all half-elves, each was given the choice to become a Mortal or an Elf, rather than be torn between the two worlds. Much of the motivation for invading the Blessed Realm stemmed from the resentment of Elros' descendants, that he had chosen mortality for them, and a desire to seize immortality. That does mean that Elrond's daughter Arwen is Aragorn's 20-something-th cousin, but it's apparently okay because they are the reincarnations of Eärendil's great grandparents on his mother's side. The whole Silmarillion is a red string, mood board of deeply-interconnected, mostly-finished ideas, and the Unfinished Tales are even crazier than that. I love this universe.

It's great to see Blint return in another playthrough! For some reason I like that it's "rival" Blint this time, so that you can kick his butt and wipe that smug look off his face. Your insult may have been apt at the moment, Blint, but our "weakest" position isn't gonna last long you grinning piece of roadkill.

Finished the episode so I can now give some more thoughts lol. Firstly, I love that Sauron's city got assigned the name Kinslyar. It fits so well and a taunt from him, given the backstory. Secondly, Immortals applies to all Empires and Free City units. So battles against the AI are all or nothing, since killed units are revived if they win there will be no valiant defenses to kill as many as you can before you lose. Lastly, recruiting heroes at 30 gold upkeep is expensive now, but later on it is actually not bad. I had one game where I ran around with a stack of just heroes, gave the hero leading the stack all the support abilities that work on heroes, and just rolled over things with it lol.

There's a lot to unpack with this one. First, downgrading the High King into a "First Protector" is definitely a grudgin'. Second, this playthrough is definitely going to be on the more chill side, because, you know, _no one can die_ . In other news, three out of four Blints agree, jerk is the way to be. Oh, yeah, Sauron not liking war; that's a grudgin', too. His city is almost named "Kinslayer," for crying out loud! At least there are boats.

Lets sea in witch adventure the elves will embark us to rebuild a city that sunk into history. :) Thanks for the storytelling. ^^

I listen to your series(s) while driving and remodeling my house. Then if I have free time I try to recreate the experience on the PS5 you've taught me a lot

You can check how much health you are going to recover by hovering your mouse over the units health stat in its detail overview. The "Horn of Plenty" is one of the better early game items, as it will stack if you have multiple heroes in the same army equipped with it. You will sometimes encounter resource nodes which are occupied by independent heroes and they often have the horn equipped in the earlier phases of the game.

The silence when you found out you hadn't activated the empire skill before clearing the infestation was gold :') Good laugh

1:13:15 in my opinion, if you don't have a perk you want to get and it's about to be released, there's no reason to keep imperium and not get the "tributaries" perk as soon as it's released, because you'll only be "losing" 10 gold per turn (google translate)

Just returned to this playthrough waiting for the next Archaon episode. I've just noticed what a scumbag Lyrocos was. Dude told you he was the only child during the first quest of avenging his spider. Then he cries, that his brother went missing. He was playing Ölwe for doing his shady stuff. I feel some dark lord influence

So this is kind of trolling but with a focus on mana, morale and lightning you can use 1 boatie boy to defeat a full stack of enemies. Maybe something to consider if you ever do a troll build series.

Immortal effects everyone. So, when a battle takes place between two players, the one who wins gets all their units back. Easy if you win, devastating if you lose trying to defend your stuff. By the way, why turn allies off? If mega cities is active, no one can get a magic victory.

Looks like bringing an Age of Nature to the world undid the damages brought to the world by the Age of Shadow... Perhaps undid it too well as the dissensions of the world find themselves being granted some form of immortality. The new empires growing complacent and reckless with this boon as an Age of Conquest not seen since The Stranger's crusade awaits.

I think the immortals thing will allow the AI keep a lot of their units, no losses in auto combat 😅
