Here is our beautiful river we dredged for 2 hard, end of seasons from Sept 1st-15th in 2010-2011, and then occationally went back to it over the years to mop up the left overs. We only went here after we dredged the Rogue River for it's entire season. We kept this area so quite that we knew it would be there until we were done on the Rogue, and until we cleaned it out.
The last time we were there was 2015 for one week in Sept and found one more ounce above a small rapid we did'nt explore much previously.

We were just kids>19 years old in 1982> But we could find 1 ounce of Gold in 2 Hours with our 5 inch Dredge. No Laws no Blm. North of Gold Hill Bridge and South of Gold Ray Dam. On the Rouge. I grew up in Ruch Oregon,right by the Applegate river.

@@bearkat4160 I live in Ashland and I am scared to even go panning anymore. People always laugh at me or harass me or bother me with questions when I do go. I've even taken my cheap crappy detector to applegate lake at the spot where everyone goes swimming, looking for lost rings and things. I tried my hand near talent on wagner creek ad well but low and behold most of that creek is claimed. I even tried sampling hard rock for home mortar crushing. I found quite a few scorpions but no gold ore...I am just pretty much stumped on how I can enjoy this hobby without harrassment and not being wealthy enough to afford a dredge, suit or permits. Hell I've even come across a homeless camp with a man peeking out at me 3 feet away with a look of sheer terror on his face through a live grass woven screen he built near a rock face. I didn't understand his facial expression until I realized he was staring at my rockhammar and had probably been sleeping only to see me approaching his ingenious camoflaged hideyhole camp with a spiked rock hammer and a look of determinition, needless to say I felt bad and continued on.. Basically I have found alot of interesting items and odd encounters but only a few flakes of flour. Do you have any suggestions for someone in my shoes?

Very Nice GOLD guys ! I miss my 5'' triple sluice dredge and that was my old gold mining area years ago,I used to have a Claim in the Applegate, wish I still had it. I knew an old guy that was there when they first started on the Applegate dam and he was shown thumb size nuggets from a guy running a 2 1/2 '' dredge . Thank you Bearkat4160 for sharing the video and I enjoy all your videos as well ! Go get that GOLD !

Am I correct that all I saw you running was the Le Trap for catching your gold, no Mats and no expanded metal...? Thank you for sharing this with us...! Have a great day and may your bottom always be yellow...!
@bearkat4160
@bearkat4160 6 жыл бұрын
No, I only run the Le Trap for clean up at idle speed. What you saw was after all the processing on the dredge is finished. The rest will be done at home. The Le Trap gets 4 gallons of material down to one quart. High grade stuff to be processed at home. So much easier than carrying a 4 gallon bucket home.

I mined the rogue for 8 years from 1988 to 1996, and went back to my old digging's with my dredge and ran some test holes.. The destruction the dam removal has caused is irreversible, the river bottom is completely torn up, and the flooding has taken out longstanding trees and done permanent damage to the riparian zone. Whatever B.S. they say about this process helping, is incorrect. The gold deposits are gone, and old channel areas are demolished at the high water mark for miles and miles along the rivers edge. The environmentalists are doing the exact opposite of what they proclaim. SHAME ! On YOU A&& Holes. God is watching.

Not true Paul...I found 5 more pounds of gold AFTER the dam blew, at only a mile and a quarter down from the dam area. Stop making up stuff. All the old hard pack still there...the dam blowing just laid down tons of sand layers, which suck to get through.
