I love the Ground Neutral concept. My teacher Victor Sazer promoted what he called seated "boxer balance", being so balanced and grounded so as to be able to have a boxing match while seated. It is literally the foundation of playing without pain.

I raised my Kun shoulder rest 1 year ago thinking I was creating a better plane for playing on my E string. What a dumb thing to do. I’ve struggled with a terrible neck injury and muscle spasms since then. I’ve seen doctors, physical therapists and an upper cervical chiropractor. I even tried muscle relaxants and heat therapy, which did help. Finally 1 year later it is much better, but still present at times. Now I use a very low Playon Air shoulder rest and I’m switching to a 7/8 violin since I have such short arms and small hands. What a difficult journey.

I had the exact same problem. And then I started relaxing for real in my right arm YEARS later and that immideately corrected my technique. So just make sure to relax the right arm as it dictates the left arm/hand/fingers too. Focus on relaxing the right side and everything will fall into place 🎉❤

Great content! Thanks. I also switched“restless” a year ago for the freedom and better sound, and after trying out 10different chin rests and pads I’ve settled on a side mount+cloth combo. But still I have a raised shoulder at times and my fingers press more pressure than my shoulder rest times, to the point my left arm feels sore. I just somehow feel this produces a more focused sound. Still trying to figure out a more relaxed way.

When I put the wood against the bone on the clavicle I feel uncomfortable.I don't have much of a chin. My chin is very small without a lot of space from the chin to the back of the neck which makes it difficult for my chin to rest on the chin rest it just slips off

@@violynnkuo I would also add that I have never met an instrumentalist (certainly not pianists) who was aware of how solid the Abs [ rectus abdominis muscles ] must be to support the upper body. We all neglect to strengthen those muscles. [ rectus abdominis - slung between the ribs and the pubic bone at the front of the pelvis. When contracting, this muscle has the characteristic bumps or bulges that are commonly called 'the six pack'. The main function of the rectus abdominis is to move the body between the ribcage and the pelvis.]. I guess I must now go to exercise :) (By the way, if we misspell 'pianist' to 'painist', there is the word 'pain' that appears !)
@violynnkuo
@violynnkuo 2 ай бұрын
@@fredericlinden I would say that more important than the rectus abdominus are the deeper core muscles that are used to support posture and stability. These muscles are targeted in Pilates training, for example, and can help alleviate the more surface muscles from doing the job of BOTH supporting the body/posture AND trying to execute playing movements.

because the flexibility of fascia different , so to do the same motion , violin player with the better fascia flexiblity use less muscle fibers , so looks more relax, VICE VERSA due to most pro violin players start to learn violin since they are very young kids, so most of them had no difficulty of fasica flexibility, that is why they have the same thinking as you

so your logic is totally wrong! think most violin beginners have no muscle injury , why do their muscle can not relex? espeically adult! dont' tell me most adults dont' know try to use awareness to correct this problem, why don't they still can not solve they problem? So the sicrete is fascia not muscle as my last rely wrote, becasue most pro player with better fascia flexibity , they can use less muscle fiber to play violin with the motion they want according to THE SECOND Newton's LOW OF MOTION F=MA the players with less tight fascia , they need less F to do the same motion, so they can use less muscle fibers(less muscle power) to play violin, so that's why you fell you can use your wareness to concor your problem vice versa think about if your injury is not cure, can you still use your wareness to solve your violin playing troulbe so I strong recommand you to change the title of this vedio to for player after injury or a player with injury like most pro violin player & teacher, your thid kind of idea is not works for student without such so soft fascia as yours.
