I found the secret pub in Tipperary hidden in a family's home, where people from all over the country go to sing songs and play music only on Thursday nights. #irishbucketlist

I love this so much, Clare. I’m just an Indiana boy from the United States, with some Irish heritage, but watching this just stirs something deep within me. The songs, the voices, the stories…. It all seems so familiar, somehow. Thank you so much. I also love how you included John Prine’s version of “Til a Tear Becomes a Rose” with his beautiful, Irish muse, Fiona. RIP John

John Prine is very popular in Ireland. He used to spend a lot of time here. His wife was Irish and they had a house about 90 minutes from where this was filmed. He used to play in the local pub there (Kinvarra, Co. Galway).

@@Clisare The pub was very crowded, we stopped in the afternoon and met Jim and one of his daughters, they asked how we heard about the mill; and we told them it was thru watching it on the computer with Clare, Jim said Oh Yes, the girl with the van. So they remembered you and seemed happy with all of it, many people that night heard about it from watching you. American's Germans and all. I cant thank you enough, you be safe.

What a remarkable find! There is so much historical importance in just the stories and the music. This is a piece of culture and the soul of Ireland that I pray will never be cancelled by those fools who seek to deny us of our past. JIm o' the Hills should be celebrated as a landmark of relevance. Sites like this have created a magnet that draws the spirit. Rightful place on the bucket list.

It does my heart good to know you are keeping alive the culture of the Gael in modern Ireland and broadcasting it to the world. The world knows Ireland is changing dramatically so God love you for your efforts in promoting the Irish language and music. The Gaels were the men that God made mad! He made all their wars happy and all there songs sad. Slán 🙏🏻☘️🇮🇪

The name Tipperary conjures strange images and old memories in my head! I am from India and my father worked for a gentleman by the name Lawrence Short. He owned a coffee estate in Yercaud, India in the 1950's. Was this gentleman from Tipperary? I don't know! Because there was an estate by the name Tipperary there too! I don't know if he was Irish, maybe from England. In the 40's and 50's there were a lot of British people in India who knew nothing about England. Just sharing my old memories! I've really enjoyed your last 2 videos. I love how you seek out interesting individuals and just point the camera at them to let them tell their stories. Jim O' the Mill is such a quintessentially Irish place. I envy you -- in America it feels like we've systematically eliminated all our gathering places and we're all living in our little bubbles. Heck, we even build towns that have no town square; they're just a random assortment of housing subdivisions and strip malls. I love the Irish for hanging onto their traditions. You said you were having trouble describing the feeling of being in that little pub; I think it must've felt like being wrapped up in a cozy warm blanket. Slainte!

I visited Ireland (from the U.S.) in October 2022 with my adult daughter. My favorite thing was meeting cousins, but my next favorite thing was visiting the small town pubs. And I could certainly relate when you said, "YOU HAVE TO GO!" My daughter was invited to sing at Gartlan's Pub in Kingscourt - three songs! It was truly an amazing, amazing experience. I'm not sure most Americans understand the cultural experience in an Irish pub, but it's quite special. So . . . "YOU HAVE TO GO!!"
