Back in 2010 I took the aim point class from the same guy he got taught by. Mark Blackburn he was one of the first few coaches that were certified to teach aim point. They have made it a lot easier to do with the express but it definitely is worth every penny.

So glad I found this. I have used aim point for some years and always felt 100% committed right or wrong. He mentioned additional info you can add which I don't but it helps so much on small or larger breaks feeling the slope with your feet. Thanks so much, I haven't seen anything on this in years. THANKS!!

#1 skill to acquire: you must be able to make a straight putt with no break. Start it and keep it on your target line. That is the foundation for all putting.

Agreed, if you can’t hit your line then reading the green isn’t as important
@lawbinson

Pace control is more important. Pace dictates your line, plus the right pace optimizes capture rate (literally the hole is bigger than if you smash it straight). Pace also basically eliminates 3 putts.

Mikasa talks about the actual line matching up with what you see as you stand over the putt otherwise you are liable to make subconscious corrections mid stroke. This can be corrected by standing closer or farther away from the ball.

Great video, Aimpoint seems to quantify something that previously was expressed only as "one ball left or two balls right" in terms of degrees, so... in goes another tool in the bag. Or something new to blame for crappy putts.;-)

Stupid question, so when you aim with knuckle/finger , you try to cover the hole or aim at the hole? If you see more left of the hole , it will break left ? Vice versa? Thanks and sorry lol

How does this technique work with double breakers?
@TheLasib
@TheLasib Жыл бұрын
You identify where the putt breaks then you first apply the aim point technique for the part before the break and you do it again for the part after the break. Then substract/add both aim point results.

Make a verbal affirmation of your intention. "This should break 4" left ..." Then do what you said. You may be wrong but as long as you performed what you intended to, you made a good putt. Also, not every good putt will go in. There's a video here on youtube where a guy rolls several balls from a locked down stimpmeter ... some go in, some don't.

Hit the ball people. Take a quick look at the break, pick out a spot or two along the path to line up your putt, and then hit the ball. Keep the pace of golf moving forward. Let's don't over analyze our game on the course. This isn't rocket science. How many NBA star players over analyze their 3 point shots or their dunks or their layups or any other shot. Golf should be the same. Use your feel and instincts and get the ball moving as fast as you can.

@natewiltse

Well, it's not that simple for everyone. Visually, I don't have good depth perception. Being able to read putts with my feet took my putting to another level, with an added benefit of not having to crouch on every green. Different strokes for different folks.

Show Max hitting a few putts!! You showed his stroke hitting on lousy putt. Less talk more action. Putting "face on", "down the line", short putts, long putts, slow motion, normal speed. Video is a "visual" medium. KZfaq is not radio or a podcast. But thanks for ONE stroke.

Curious why you think this?
@TheAndroid4life
@TheAndroid4life Жыл бұрын
@@FullyEquippedGolf The slower the roll, the more a side-slope affects the ball. I would guess that on an uphill slope, more would let it die in the hole because they underestimate the hill, and the opposite for downhill where it’s easy to give it too much. If the ball have equal pacing, the side-slope will affect it equally.
@FullyEquippedGolf

@@TheAndroid4life uphill putts are typically struck harder which means less affected by gravity and green reading errors. A downhill putt will break more.

@Micker375 Жыл бұрын
@@FullyEquippedGolf surely a second opinion from a caddy can give him that validation to make a committed stroke?! Players are not holing more putts today than they where 5 years ago before aim point! It’s just slowing the game down - and amateurs are copying (or trying to copy) the pros they see doing it on TV
@FullyEquippedGolf

@@Micker375 if anything aimpoint should expedite the green reading process. Multiple reads from multiple angles from a player and caddy will not speed up golf.
