I watched this because I'm an Eric Bana fan. I had no idea of the ride I would be taken on. This movie had all my emotions going in high gear. Simply amazing. Movies like this are getting fewer and fewer.

Esra Amer I just watched it last night. It wretched at my heart. Sometimes so traumatic, I had to stop the movie to take a breathe. The end with Eric Bana, the discovery of the precious thing she lost( I don't want to give it away) had me in tears. Why this movie doesn't get the recognition it totally deserves... super hero movies, that's all anyone wants to see anymore.

I just watched this. Cried through the whole movie. So heartbreaking. Rooney Mara is one of my favorite actresses. She’s beautiful, and always gives outstanding performances. I wish it was recognized more. I came upon the movie accidentally and I’m so thrilled I got to see it. Vanessa Redgrave is wonderful.

This was a beautiful, powerful film, so rich with real, profound human emotion. Every actor was excellent in their role. I was transfixed by the story and the beautiful way it was told. It gives you a glimpse into the depths and heights of the human soul.

Rooney Mara is such an amazing actress!❤ She's definitely on her way to being legendary. "Theo" is quite scrumptious!😄 The trailer definitely got my attention. It looks as though Rose is the "forbidden fruit"(but she doesn't want or long for these many men..she wants ONE man)and ultimately gets punished for(something she had no control over or choice in)being born a beautiful woman. Can't wait to see it!!

Perfect casting. Rooney has (from what i've heard so far) seemed to have nailed the accent. Very impressive, looking forward to seeing this.

the funny thing is that people complain that not enough info was given in trailer and then complain that too much info was given. I think this was pretty adequate as I got the general idea of what is going on in the trailer. If need be just search up the synopsis from online. Not that hard to do.

just read the book this is based on (which is absolutely gorgeous and heartbreaking) and they seem to have made some dramatic changes for the film. it looks incredible too though, just in a different way!! will definitely be watching, they had me at Rooney Mara *swoons*

Broke Vegan I have some questions, I read the book and then saw the movie and the movie was very different from the book. Начав общаться с престарелой пациенткой чуть ближе лишь потому, что казённое заведение вот-вот снесут, доктор Грен постепенно проникается её историей. Он даже начинает восхищаться ей. Он задаёт ей вопросы, пытаясь понять, почему она оказалась в доме сумасшедших, есть ли у неё семья. КНИГА: дневник доктору Грену подбросил Джон Кейн (настоящее имя Шонин Кин Лавелл, сын Джона Лавелла), Розанна уже была замужем за Томом Макналти (в фильме Майкл), когда встретилась один раз с давним знакомым Джоном Лавеллом поговорить, но их видел священник, и он ей отомстил за то, что она отказалась выйти замуж за старика, которого он ей предлагал, когда ей было 16 лет, расторгнув брак с Томом Макналти. Wait...this is a movie featuring an older character name Rose (or Roseanne) telling the audience a story about her doomed love affair from her 20's set during a famous historical event, featuring a love triangle with a brooding guy with dark hair and another guy named Jack...Hmm, I might be wrong, but this plot sounds familiar.

Does anyone understand what the father wanted from Rosanna? I mean what he was ready for her. Did he want to marry her when he admitted her to a hospital? Why did the child bother him? I think he loved her but he was extremely toxic and destroying

SPOILER (apparently)....Nope, it's about a poor beautiful protestant girl in the west of Ireland, who has had a difficult upbringing neither belonging to one 'side' or the other. Parents die etc. After time (love etc.) is left alone and destitute she's considered a threat by the local priest and institutionalised. Sebastian Barry, the writer, was inspired by a story within his family, and meanwhile, tackled Irelands dark past about the massive amount of people the Irish State allowed to be incarcirated against their will... especially women, by the men who wanted rid of them.
