In this episode the second module of the MOL, the Reconnaissance and Observational Module (ROM), launches on the MOL-2 mission. The crew spends 60 days in orbit and performs a spacewalk to unstick a stuck high gain antennae.

honestly could see something like this happening if the MOL program got farther off the ground, great video!

It's funny that Gemini spacecraft did everything backward. The early flights with Agena Target Vehicle had the famous eyeball-out maneuver. Then there is Gemini B, docking by a hole on the heat shield.

The Soviet-Russian Salyut-1 was the first space station, it orbited Earth for 175 days. Besides the American Skylab, which orbited Earth for 2249 days, the most modern Russian space station was Salyut-6 on which the cosmonauts tested modern equipment such as the Omega Alaska project Speedmaster chronographs and the Orlan space suit. The Russian Mir space station orbited Earth for 5510 days and the ISS - International Space Station already orbited Earth for almost 8500 days ! 🧐

Great what-if videos! FYI, after Blue Gemini separated from MOL, it had to drop its large power and supply module in order to reveal its smaller module containing the retro-rockets. Then after they fired, it would in turn be separated to reveal the heat shield.

Fantastic look at the little known "MOL" program and I remember when I was a kid building a little scale plastic model kit of a concept of the MOL but 🤔 it was a propaganda kit that was intended to use the kit to show that it's mission was only an air. Force space station for only recerch of space exploration

Do you think this exists in the same 'universe' as the Venus flyby mission video?

Speaking of alternate history flying have you ever heard of the SLS? No not that one, the 1960 USAF proposal for a possible alternative for the Titan III series to meet the SLV-4 requirements. The idea was to marry large diameter segmented Solid Rocket Boosters, (the UA 1200 series was an outgrowth of these studies) to a "high performance" LOX/Hydrogen 'core' vehicle (imaginatively named "A", "B", and "C" :) ) in varying diameters and lengths to allow very different payloads to be tossed into orbit. The "A" version was sized to be transported by rail anywhere in the US and being powered by either a pair of modified hyrdolox LR87 engines, (the LR87H and yes it was tested so the LR87 is in fact the first engine to tested with all of the 'big-3' propellants, kerolox, storables and hydrolox) or a then in design, single J2 engine. The "B" core would be about 25ft in diameter and use four LR87H's or two J2 with an "A" booster for the 'upper-stage'. The "C" version would be used to launch and support Air Force "LUNEX" plans with both a "B" and "A" stage thrown in. Also, any plans for doing something on the Saturn "SLA" (Saturn Lunar Adapter) station or concepts?

@@kevincgustafson Nice :) :) soo... this will be like the International Skylab Series? :) Nice to see that :) I have a personal love for the canceled MOL... and i have another question: Are you thinking about revisiting such things like "One Giant Leap" and the other older stuff? That are great videos but hearing you doing that commenting you do for the last years is bringing your videos to their absolute peak performance.

@@kevincgustafson Okay :) :) Thank your for the answer :) :) and just to be shure: That wasn´t to be meant i a way that i think your old videos are below standard, no, you just learned and evolved in doing those things.... and KSP and is mods evolved to. And i am looking forward to what you could probably do with KSP 2 as a platform if you plan to buy it. Who needs CGI for this documentary´s if KSP can give you just the same experience.
