Jellyfish single handily defies almost everything we understand of life and living organisms. It's a living creature, but lacks a brain, almost entirely composed of water, yet sleeps, learns, and an effective hunter (namely the box jellyfish that has good eyesight, actively follows and kills its prey). Very interesting creature that we should study more.

i firmly believe we should be exploring the oceans depths more than spending money on space exploration. something around 98% of the earth's ocean is undiscovered. there is where we will find the key to technology far beyond our understanding; now. i am so fascinated by the galaxy beneath the sea.. i used to live in the florida keys, and have spent the majority of my life on the coast of maine. the sea is something very dear to my heart and i could go on and on about the possibilities.

@@the_real_max_level Totally agree. I've spent my whole life by the sea, either in the UK or Australia. I can't imagine not being by the water, and not spending my free time under the waves. It pains me to think of how little effort we put into ocean exploration. We've never built on the legacy of the Conshelf and Sealab. Only Aquarius is left these days, and even that's been left to a single university to support. It's such a waste of opportunity, such a lack of curiosity and vision.

All animals, including the jellyfish, ctenophores, and salps featured in this video, as well as all extant life on earth that uses RNA/DNA to encode genetic information, is descended from a common ancestor. But that shouldn't make the sheer diversity across the tree of life any less amazing and inspiring!!

Whenever i watch these videos they always end too soon. The brilliance of nature knows no bounds it seems. My eyes are unable to capture enough 'visual calories' to keep up with their seemingly unlimited ability to form moving diaphanous structures that defy any abstract sculpture I've ever seen. It makes me feel crudely inept to their beauty and mystery. The fact that we as a species continue to poison the environment is insanity . That and killing anything in our path in search of seafoods over fishing is immoral. But then just look at how we treat each other. May god protect us.

God I love ocean life, especially jellyfish. It’s so fascinating to see how stuff survives and how so many creatures are still hardly understood and challenging many of the ideas about life. And so much isn’t even discovered yet, it’s insane, Every time I think I’m over my obsession I find videos like this and it comes right back haha, if it weren’t for my grades (especially in biology freshman year) I would be more likely to go with marine biology instead of Graphic design. At least I can hope to spread information through the design work tho!

Watching these jellyfish reminds me of some types of UFOs... What if there is a UFO that were borg-like, similar to both a marine animal and a flying machine? And it's bioluminescence is why we only see certain lights in a shape with a void in-between, it's ability to create light is tricking our eyes...this ability could be used like a cloaking device.
