the melody bus EQ trick is pretty neat, nice video! For the kick melody sidechain you could also use a fruity peak controller w an EQ on the melody so you duck only low freq where the kick needs room to hit I do this with my kick and 808s sometimes to make them sit better in the mix.

I usually just peak controller into fruity multiband compressor and use the gain knob. It just feels better to do, but in the style I've been up to lately I don't really need to do that

Sound selection > multiple EQ cuts. If you're choosing sounds that don't clash with each other or sounds that are already not muddy in the first place you won't even have to worry so much about muddiness
