There's a ridiculous amount of time based and pitch based processing techniques in music production. You may be looking to get a wider mix in your bass, pads, percussion, strings, piano or vocals. You can introduce stereo widening techniques early in the sound design stage or later in the production process, when mixing. Getting a wide image is about using a combination of these techniques whilst continually checking that your track still sounds as it should when you collapse to mono.

I already knew them all but i can't help myself from watching until the end. Apart you're being kind enough to share the good info about music production, you do it while being full of joy, captivating and really funny! I've laughed a bit at the haas effect on the like (by the way i've clicked it). Now just to make you giggle a bit, here's another stereo widening tip: Spread the monitors from you! Haha

Informative video! I knew about hard-panning from my history of guitar recording, but learning other techniques for stereo placement and enhancement really made things come alive for me. I like to steal a technique from Aphex Twin and have a mostly narrow mono sound that dips into the stereo field for emphasis via reverb or other effects. Playing with the stereo field over time can be really fun and make the track feel more dynamic.

Is phase cancellation a concern with synthetic width? And does haas have better characteristics when it’s used in the context of a limited bandwidth?
