In the realm of public speaking, there often exists a daunting pressure to perform with confidence and poise. Whether it is delivering a presentation, addressing an audience, or stepping onto the stage, the expectation for excellence in communication can be overwhelming. The mere thought of public speaking can evoke anxiety and self-doubt, making it feel like a Herculean task. An award-winning author, global keynote speaker, and entrepreneur dedicated to helping people achieve their goals and live a purposeful life, Ms. Sha Nacino inspires and motivates individuals to pursue their passions and positively impact the world. Once a self-proclaimed ‘shy girl,' she shares how she stepped out of her shell and into the spotlight - as well as discovered her own love for public speaking. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I agree. Public speaking is a conversation. And when you are conversing, you do not think of yourself but on the person or persons you are addressing to so there is no room for fear and you are connected. Thanks for sharing your insights.

Congrats, Sha! That was a great talk! Very encouraging and inspiring. I first heard that phrase that “public speaking is not a performance but a conversation” from another tedx speaker, matt, and that helped me overcome my fear of public speaking. When I got the chance to speak in front of 200 people last week, mostly lawyers, managers, and high-ranked govt officials, it was a success because i was always reminding myself that i wasn’t performing, but rather, i was having a conversation. Ang galing, Sha! I’d love to join your masterclass soon. I’ve been following you for years and you are truly an inspiration.

as an introvert, public speaking isn't my cup of tea and everytime I jave to speak in front of the ministry, there's some uncertainties if I could convey every details and stuff. Thank you, Ms. Sha for the inputs 🙏🏾

The content of the speech was expertly laid out and delivered with such passion and vigor that it resonated deeply with the audience. One of the major takeaways for me was the focus on avoiding negative self-talk and shifting to positive thoughts. The idea that replacing negative thoughts with positive affirmation is invaluable for anyone looking to improve their public speaking. It was a reminder that self-confidence is a key to successful public speaking. Furthermore, the speaker’s concept that public speaking is not a performance but a conversation, was another insight I found truly helpful. This paradigm shift, in my opinion is both liberating and empowering. Lastly, the speaker’s personal experiences shared in the speech, along with tangible tips for improvement was a perfect capstone to a truly impactful talk.

What a great speech and rule of thumb: Engage in more conversations. I've always feared public speaking and realized it's because I feel I'm not good at articulating my words, or thinking on my feet (fear of not being able to ask the right questions).

Thank you for sharing your TEDx talk. I was so inspired, I shared it with my colleagues as well. I never thought of Public Speaking as a way of conversation. Indeed, it looks one way kasi yung speaker lang naman talaga ang salita ng salita; but then, engaging your audience in your talk, would make them feel like responding to your message. Maraming salamat :-) I didn't see Public Speaking from this perspective. God bless. 😊
