I used to skate everywhere. Then I didn't, for about 25 years! I got back on it shortly before my 55th birthday. At first I'd accompany the Mrs on her walk in the park and be out of breath skating a few hundred yards down the path. Now, 11months later, I've lost weight, gained muscle, significantly improved agility and reactions. I skate bowl, 4-7 days each week. I'm not particularly good - i just pump around it, putting in a few kick turns - but I am better than I ever was and improving week by week. That has me stoked!

Good to hear, brethren. I'm 57, started up again around 50. I go every day pretty much and the health benefits are plain. I did stop doing transition, though. Nothing but freestyle and a bit of ledge/street stuff.

You guys are my heroes. Started up at 54 on a carver board. Skating street and park. Just switched to a “regular” board and tried it out yesterday at the park. Stoked!!!!!

I’m so stoked hearing everyone’s reengagement with skating!! At the beginning of the pandemic, I was hella overweight & would go skating with my son up and down our block at midnight, until I had a big fall and broke my rib(essentially landing my chest on my fist)… so, at that point (age 47) I decided, skateboarding is a hazard to my health! I finally got back on a board a month ago (age 50) & realized I still have a lot of skateboarding years ahead of me. Inspiring to read I’m not alone! Thanks for posting the video! SKATE OR DIE!!!

I turned 39 last month. I stopped skating back in 98'. Every time I pass a skate park or see kids on their boards around the neighborhood it brings back memories from a time that defined who I was. I was with my kids teaching them how to ride their bikes earlier this week when a kid passed by on his skateboard. I asked if I could ride it and he let me. It took about two minutes to get the uneasy feeling and my balance back. I started popping ollies and my wife was smiling and my kids were looking at me like I was the coolest person. Anyhow, I got the bug and just bought a new board after my wife encouraged me to start doing it again.

Great video and encouraging for many older guys. I myself started skating in 1987 and I skated strong everyday til about 1997 or 1998. Then life got in the way, priorities changed I guess because I thought that was what you were supposed to do....focus on career, relationships, being an adult, etc. Drinking with buds also got in the way and other stuff just took over my time. So almost 20 years goes by.....my life is going by and I am letting it happen. Something happened to me when I was around 38 or 39....I think I started watching some old H-Street, Blind, and World Industries videos again and it re-sparked the flame that was still within me. It shocked my entire being and reawakened my passion for skating and at that moment I set out to buy a board. It was a little awkward at first, and I definitely needed time to get comfortable again, both mentally and physically, but with passion and determination I came through it and now I feel so free again. It is a love story that never really ends....it always continues until the next time. I don't get to skate everyday, but when I do my entire heart is in it. I am still learning new tricks at 45 and it feels almost unreal, and I am feeling very blessed. You can continue, yes you can, as long as you want and you just need to stay healthy and mentally focused. Skateboarding is the best thing that ever happened to me.

I skated a lot as a kid/teen and stopped when I had kids. Then my boys got older and started skateboarding and I showed my oldest how to Ollie and after that it was on. I skate every day and it helped me lose a ton of weight and it’s so much fun! I’ll be 40 in a few months and I won’t stop skating till my body fails on me 😆🤘🏼it brings me pure joy

It’s much harder to get into skating at that age than to keep skating till that age. But it can be done. If he does, just make sure he’s padded up with wrist guards, knee pads, elbow pads, helmet, and anything else you can protect! Maybe a full body bubble wrap! 🤣

I think that park is awesome. Love the idea of it. It may have it's challenges but that makes it more like street skating I think. I would love to skate that park. You got some great clips there. Skating once a week doesn't work. That was my life for the year. But now I am back in America and I am now going to be able to skate a lot more. I am shooting for 4 days a week at first.
