The Tre Cime di Lavaredo is the most famous hike in the Dolomites. Some also argue that it is one of, if not the most, beautiful hikes in the world. However, it's fame and notoriety also bring swarms of crowds. That is, unless you know the secret to getting around this and enjoying the most spectacular views of the Tre Cime that one could imagine!

So stunning!!🏜 I must say though, the Sierra’s are my first choice, because I am so partial to the granite in the Sierra’s. And because I trained so much there and am so familiar with them, and I love having a tree line where it is lush, and then gradual more stark above tree line. And looking down from the summit to the trees and surrounding mountains, and only folks who climb to the summit can experience that. I love trees so much, so I love both, the starkness and the greenery. And I love your fathers sax in the background💕 Thanks again for another amazing video🏜

Ya that's a totally legit opinion on the Sierra, Mary, and I think I'm with you on it. I absolutely love the Alps and Dolomites and plan to spend lots more time there, but the Sierra is like a great first love -- there'll just never be anything that hits my heart quite as hard. I like going through the trees too, and I also love lots and lots of sparkling lakes which are just everywhere in the eastern Sierra. What a blessing to be able to climb in so many different gorgeous places, and then in the end get to come back to the best one of all! ❤️ --A

We both agree with your assessment. In fact, we were a bit surprised that so many people consider it the most beautiful. For me, I love the Alps with all the greenery and flowers and waterfalls and then the snowcapped peaks, and Adam loves the Sierra with all the gorgeous lakes with jagged peaks rising out of them. Tre Cime was beautiful no doubt, but as you say it was more the incredible quality of the rock than lakes or vegetation. ❤️

Never been to the Dolomites, looks super amazing. It also appears nice that things are reasonable in height. My recommendation for rock spires, peaks and mountains is the Baltoro glacier region in the Karakoram and for snowy peaks, Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Huayhuash in Peru. The Blanca is probably easier to get to for you than the Alps. Keep up the amazing work!

Will probably want to do Denali before Blanca, but will for sure want to do lots of climbing down in South America in coming years. For us it will be one step at a time with altitude, and once Adam early retires next year it will be a lot easier to live at altitude, which will be a big help preparing for 20,000 and above! ❤️

you guys went back to the dolomites!! I love that you did a via ferrata on top of the super popular tre cime hike! Since you are reaching into the more and more undiscovered hikes of the world, I would love it if you could put the hike stats in the video or the description, like the trailhead/end, which route you took, total mileage and estimated time. Especially in the dolomites where the possibilities are endless!

Yes! We're going to go back every year because, as you say, the possibilities are endless and we just love it there so much!! We will def try to put as much of the stats as we can into the main videos, and we're also just about to start channel memberships where we're going to do a talk breakdown of every big hike with all the stats and data that might not make it into the main video edit! We'll announce that in a week or two, but it's going to be really good for the people who want to replicate these hikes, ask specific questions about the routes, etc. ❤️

Hey A&E!! What to say.....Bellissimo!! Such a stunning place and hike and via! After watching I was thinking it might be helpful (and of course, more work for you :-) to maybe have a graphic of where you started from (Cortina area?) to the trailhead, plus a graphic of the route itself. Might be some good beta for those who are lucky enough to try some of these wonderful hikes and climbs that you showcase. I think you know Karl Decker, who does an awesome job with his vlogs, and he does a short pre-hike intro showing the route and maps, etc. Just a thought. Cheers!!!

But should def get back to it, because it really can be useful. Also, we're working on a whole "trail talks" thing that we're going to do for a KZfaq premium option where we're not only going to show a bunch of extra stuff for each hike but also discuss it in depth, tell stories about crazy things that happened off camera, etc.! Should have that option coming out in a month or two. ❤️

I wa hoping you were about to ascend one of the the sunny sides of the Gran Cima di Laveredo to its summit: alas no. But what a fine hike you illustrated with your vid. 4K too! You're right about the Dolomites being the best of the best. There is a warmer ambience to the Dolomites which is absent in the Alps. 30 yrs ago I did my 1st via ferratta - in descent - of the S face of the Schiara overlooking Belluno at the end of the Alta Via Uno; the N to S hike of the Dolomites, after bicycling to Italy from my home in England. In your vid' I noted the high quality of the via ferratta's hardware. In my descent of the Schiara, there were several really airy, exposed, sketchy parts where the cables were rusted through and broken, bolts, and pitons missing where I had to rely on my rock climbing experience, not helped with a stuffed rucksack: tent+ sleeping bag+food+cyling gear on my my back. I look forward to watching more of your vid's. Ciao.

The Dolomites are just stunning to look at and I'm amazed you escaped all the people. I think Adam can be considered "close enough" on calling them filagreed which usually means an open style of intricate, detailed usually metal work. "Open" meaning that the pieces of the art work have air space around them which the Dolomites do not. :)

Thanks Ellen! Ya doing the via ferrata (in addition to going early, of course) was definitely the key to escaping all the people. Nice explanation of filagreed btw -- didn't know the part about the "open" style, but am definitely filing that away for some future use! ❤️ --A

That's a good question, and a lot of times the return really can be harder and more dangerous. That was for sure the case for us on Maroon Peak, and also Galena peak. I’ve wanted to ask but I keep forgetting - Do you have off days between these hikes where you rest and recover or is it day after day? Curious about your recovery routines (maybe a future video?!)
@LiveHardxLoveHard
@LiveHardxLoveHard 11 ай бұрын
That's a good question. Normally we need at least a day or two off between hard hikes. For example, climbing Mont Blanc is about the equivalent of doing a full ironman in terms of the amount of strain it puts on the body and cardio system over an extended time. You can't just come right back and go hard again after that. However, hikes like this one we could pretty easily do two in a row of if we wanted. So generally we take about 1-3 days off in between hikes we film depending how hard they are. We still often go for short hikes in beautiful places on the off days, but nothing too long or steep, just getting the body moving and being outdoors. It's a good idea for a video, and we will for sure do one on recovery at some point! ❤️

Obv you're being sarcastic, but the truth is that less than 1% of the people who come to Tre Cime do the via, and a majority of them don't even know about it.

This is one of the most beautiful climbs I believe you’ve made guys and by two of the most beautiful climbers on earth. Elise your Dads sax really adds to the feel of the climb. Somehow how Elise we need you know who’s violin in the mix. Would begging directly on here help by any chance? Please Oh Please Mom do it for all us subscribers. We would love it dearly! Safe travels Jellybean and Pop Tart! Love you guys!❤️

Larry this is exactly the comment we needed! You are so right -- it is time to get my mom's violin into the mix, and she knows we wrote Wild Horses for you (and of course in the memory of your wife) so your comment will definitely hold a lot of weight when we show it to her. I predict that violin will be coming your way before the year is out!!! ❤️ --E

Congratulations on the upcoming nuptials, and yes we did do Lago di Braies! Not as a video, but just to walk it for ourselves one morning when we were taking an off day. Incredibly romantic and beautiful! You are right to honeymoon in the Dolos -- that's what we did last year and it could not have been better. We stayed in Ortisei, which we loved, but of course there are lots of good options. Make sure to go super early when you go to Lago di Braies -- it's much more romantic before it gets crowded! Also, if you have time, it's worth going down to Venice for a couple days as well. Such a romantic city to walk around in -- but again, walk early before all the crowds! ❤️

I would put the Alps on top, although I love the Sierras too. The Alps just look like a storybook. They don't seem real.

I am 100% with you on this -- the Alps is my favorite! Adam loves the drama of the Sierra, and it's where he truly fell in love with hard hiking, so he'll always ultimately choose that. But for me it's the Alps for the exact same reason as you -- waterfalls, flowers, epic peaks. Storybook craziness! ❤️ --E

This was mid-July, just a couple of weeks ago, which is definitely the high season for this hike. All the people are on down on the main loop trail (we started it first thing in the morning when it was less crowded, but by the time we got off the via ferrata, had soup, and came back to the main trail, there were a LOT of people on it). But that's okay -- it's deservedly popular, and we enjoyed talking to some folks on the way back around. ❤️
