A very wise young man. Hunting, like life, is about the journey.

First few minutes of listening, I agree 100%. Watched the entire video, slowing down does make you more conscious. I rarely shoot more than 2 or 3 arrows at a time, mostly shoot one arrow, retrieve, shoot one arrow. Your spot on......

Wow, that was beautiful. Everything we do and every second we breathe should follow this principal. If you're trying to get it over with as soon as possible, your missing the point and squandering life away. Good wisdom brother.

Amen. Dude what you said was everything I needed to hear. I’ve recently gotten into archery. I find myself going to the woods every day and it felt like something special. Something spiritual. Thank you. Your instinctive shooting tips I’m about to try right now. I binged 5 videos of yours in a row. Keep doing this dude. You’re unique.

Thank you! I appreciate it! Archery is something awesome, I like to hunt in general, but there’s something about being in the woods with my bow that makes it more special. It’s almost spiritual getting close to critters and trying to get them with the bow rather than being able to shoot far with a muzzleloader or rifle. It’s a heck of a challenge, but that’s what makes it so fun. Good luck on your shooting and your journey with archery. It sure is addicting!

I’ve been shooting a long time and pretty much agree with everything you’re saying, spot on. My personal tip is to draw back with a very relaxed drawing arm, and I release a slight push to the target with the bow.

I really do respect your thoughts on this subject and if anything I'm guilty of not incrperating them enough in my shooting. While I do give thanks to God Almighty for my archery, maybe I should slow down a bit and take in the whole experience a little more.

Thank you!! I’m a big sucker for an old bear bow. They just have so much history it makes em so cool! Especially my papaws old bear polar recurve it’s from 1953 and has been beaten and banged and dragged through hay fields. Now I’ve put 2 arrows through 2 does after all that time!

Such mindfulness and philosophy from someone who looks like "The Schofield Kid" in the movie "Unforgiven" messes with my mind! I'm enjoying your videos anyway, and looking forward to more!

Japanese "standing Zen" archery seeks to find Moshin, the state of a quiet mind during the process through release. Byron Ferguson's "Become the Arrow" is a first cousin of this quiet mind concept.

I never shoot more than 2 arrows at a time. Even with my compound bow...which really isn't archery. More like arrow shooting. Good job on this video.

Tbh I can’t get accurate at 20-25 yards with my 25 lb bow (I’m newer but a shorter gentleman) been using the 25, might try goin up to 40, I’m hoping the flattened trajectory helps a lot
@feelthespiritofthewild
@feelthespiritofthewild 2 ай бұрын
Oh yeah. Shooting the heavier bow will help out at distance. That flatter trajectory will help a lot. It’s hard to get really accurate with a light poundage bow past 15 yards. Good luck and straight shooting!!

shoot quick, miss quick. shoot slow, miss slow. i go thru a small process before, during, and after the shot. steady front bow hand, anchor to my nose, drop the string and grab an imaginary golf ball on my back shoulder.

Great video. The mental aspect is a big part of anything you do, but especially shooting a trad bow. And like you said don't overthink it. On a side note what quiver are you using?

Thank you! It sure is. That’s a Thunderhorn Boa it’s done me pretty well for about 5 years now, and I’m rough on things. I can’t keep a bow looking nice I’ll drag em through brush, throw em across a creek or river, or throw to the ground from a stand. I’ve had to do that a couple times after dropping my rope. It’s pretty stout thing but I recommend getting a denser foam to put in the foam wears out quick.

Do you use wooden or carbon arrows and what you think of their difference?
@feelthespiritofthewild
@feelthespiritofthewild 11 күн бұрын
@@georgichernenko5847 I like to use carbon arrows because of how much I can customize them. I can play a lot more with front weight etc. I like the woodies for the nostalgia though and it’s easy to get a heavy weight arrow with only a 100 grain head. If I had more time I’d make up a set of woodies every year

But the problem with taking your time is you don’t have the ability to take your time when you’re hunting in the woods. Especially if you are hunting from the ground.

I get where you’re coming from, but I’m only talking about a practice accuracy perspective. Even if you do it slow while practicing, you’ll naturally be quicker in the heat of the moment while hunting. You’ll never be as slow as when you’re practicing when you’re in the moment due to adrenaline.

You obviously love Archery so get some coaching & learn proper alignment, a shot sequence, & execute the shot thru back tension. Accuracy is enjoyable & you’ll enjoy the work. Look up Tom Clum, Rod Jenkins, Joel Turner, Jake Kaminski. Your only gonna get worse the way your shooting now.

I appreciate your willingness to help and give advice. That’s why I love the sport because a lot of people like to help each other get better! I’ve watched a lot of Tom Clum, Joel Turner, and Jake Kaminski. I’ve never watched a lot of Rod Jenkins and have been meaning to look him up. I’m actually editing a video as I type this about back tension just like Tom Clum teaches it. I’ve always drew with my back, but the farther back I rotate and anchor my release goes crazy. There’s a newer video the “Instinctive Archery and How To Be Deadly Accurate” where I shoot my full shot through a 10 second hold. Where I shoot instinctively however my concentration has to be ok where I want to hit. I can’t do any of the conscious movements Joel Turner does cause I don’t use the tip of the arrow to aim. I just blank bale, or gap shoot when I’m practicing for form. In that video however I was still experimenting things in my form to see what worked, and now have found a lot better process that I’m sticking to. If you’d like you can check out my latest video, or I’ll be posting one about bow grip soon. Hopefully I’ll be making a video of me getting a new bow. haha😂 I appreciate the watch and feedback! Straight shootin & God bless!
