Second law: Pre-installed dunlop dual design strap locks. I install them on all my instruments, you can use them with any straps if needed and can use the Dunlop strap lock too which is very nice.

I had an Epiphone LP Tribute with Grover locking tuners. For life circumstances I didn't play guitar for some years (maybe 4 or 5 years, I don't lie, bad times). When I took it out of its case, I strummed an E chord. In tune. I connected it to the tuner: each string was in tune. Now I'm building a guitar kit, just fir fun, and I'll install locking tuners for sure.

Second law: All guitars must have spoke wheel truss rod adjustments at the base of the neck instead of needing to use a hex key at the headstock. Charvel and Jackson have the right idea.

I couldnt agree with you more. I put lockers on everything I have. It seems like every used guitar I buy has so much slack wrapped that it looks like a headstock full of cobra baskets! It takes me forever to get the old strings off and then you have to be careful not to catch an angry string if you try to hurry! Hipshots are my favorite because the universal mounting brackets keep the install clean and easy - nothing worse than a janky install job with the tuners not lining up. Just found you on youtube - great vid!

There is nothing worse than a trillion nasty windings and the risks involved 😂 The hipshot system particularly is a favourite of mine. The issue is we pay a bit of a premium for them over here with most coming from the US but it’s absolutely worth it imo. Thanks again my dude!

Dude, I will vote for you as commander and chief of guitar law. I totally agree. Also need a law for stainless frets and heel spoke wheel truss rod adjustment IMO. Outstanding vid, I do mod vids on my channel and always upgrade to good locking tuners.

I just put some chrome Hipshot open gear locking tuners on a homebuilt Tele, and really like them, the open gears look really cool and they work great with the universal mounting plates. Easy drop in installation. Nice video. Not too hard to do a locking wrap on conventional tuners, but why not use the latest in modern technology, eh?

Agreed, locking tuners are the #1 mod if you like your pickups - I've done four of my electrics so far. NUMBER TWO MOD is obvious - black speed knobs THAT TO TO ELEVEN (yes, they exist and I own them :o) Cheers!

Locking tuners a Tusq nut and roller string trees are what I fit to every new guitar now .The tuners on my Squire Bullet Mustang cost more than the guitar ....If I ever sell it I'll just re fit the stock set.

Got some Vansons on eBay for like 30 quid and they do the job well. Back in the day all we had expensive sperzels or actual USA made grovers dam iam old haha love that SG bro!

PRS started putting locking tuners on the McCarty, but has gone back to normal ones 🤷🏽‍♀️ they say it's more traditional 🤔 Some people are saying it's cost related, which, if true seems a bit tight. It's not as if it's making much difference on a £4k guitar

I have an aria 714 M2 and what to change to the locking tuners. I'm new to the guitar. Are the locking tuners more or less the same, or are they different.

Hey dude! Locking tuners work exactly the same as normal tuners but the just lock the string inside the post so it doesn't slip. That means you can tune up like in this video and it'll make restringing tons easier and increase your tuning stability. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade! Thanks for watching mate 🤘

Hey man, my PRS SE custom 24 simply does not stay in tune while playing. Do you think locking tuners would help?

Hey dude! There's a couple of things it could be but the two things I would personally go are put some locking tuners on so you can eliminate string winds (and make changes super easy) and look at replacing the nut for a graph tech. Could also be the bridge saddles or trem system depending what it has dude but it's likely you'll fix it with locking tuners and the nut. Hope that helps bro 🤘

what type of tuners are those ? are those bass or treble side non staggered on your RG?

They’re the Hipshot open gear locking tuners, the staggered set to fit strats, standard headstock RGs etc. Awesome set of tuners! They’re staggered 2-2-2, with E & A having the longest posts and B & E with the shortest. Hope that helps! 🤘

how big is the difference in quality between hipshot and harley benton?

Hipshot hardware is higher quality for sure. If you’re looking to buy upgraded hardware and have the money for it I’d recommend Hipshot. However, the Harley Benton locking tuners I talk about in this are ace dude. If you want to upgrade more affordably then the HB stuff seems to be great 🤘

No problem! The staggered ones have 3 sets of 2 that are different heights getting taller to smaller. It's for a better break angle against the nut. Staggered on the RGA is the way to go dude!

Funny, I've been playing guitar since 1964, I now own two Martins and I'd never even heard of 'locking tuners'. My guitars stay in tune for weeks on end. Why on earth would I NEED these? Simply . . . I DON'T

I’m glad you personally don’t have any issues Brian. They’re more of an electric players mod to be truthful, you can easily get away without them on a Martin or any other acoustic. But they do make string changes even easier. Thanks for watching mate 🤘

He plays an Epiphone. This man cannot be trusted. Buy an SG or a Manson like a real man. ;) Just kidding. The only thing I don't like about these is I like to re-tune and be perfectly in tune before each song or take, and strings stretch, even if locked. But yeah, these massively improve so many problems.

They don't give tuning stability, its just easier to re string. Stop the misinformation. To fully lock you need a locking nut.

Respectfully, I'm going to have to completely disagree. If you want to watch the video I explain exactly how they *improve* tuning stability. There's no way to get perfect tuning stability, not even a locking nut will give you that. The closest thing is the Evertune system.

You don't need locking tuners. You can easily lock the strings without having locking tuners.
