That could be because another show they were doing had a higher budget, that being Shop Til You Drop, which was giving out TVs, kitchen appliances, expensive jewelry, and shopping spree vacations. ("TO WHERE, MARK?")

I liked this show including Guts, Double Dare, Get the Picture, Nick Arcade, Think Fast, Finders Keepers and Make The Grade. They all were very entertaining to me growing up but Figure It Out never was.

I personally think it would've been great, if Legends of the Hidden Temple had a bigger budget, to have the temple run prizes be geared more towards the respective legends of the episode they were doing.

I always wanted to be on the show. I was very confident i would win lol. The shrine of the silver monkey was definitely the room that got me so frustrated that those kids couldnt figure out. Just wanted to jump in the tv and push them out of the way.

+Matty Matt Matt I think there's more to it than is revealed here. LoTHT (like virtually all modern gameshows) clearly carried a disclaimer that the only portions that were edited were those not effecting the outcome. After the quiz show scandals of the 1950's, virtually all networks and producers took steps to keep the game play on game shows legitimate for fear of civic liability. and it's also in violation of FCC regulations to rig a game show (if it's being presented as a legitimate contest.) My guess would be that the producers had a target number of winners each season or adjusted game play elements in their favor (ie creating a route through the temple that was virtually impossible to complete in the time limit), but straight up rigging could have gotten the show and producers in serious trouble.

I always heard how there was near 0 winners, but hearing someone go "there were 120 plays and only 30 wins" sounds way more than what I imagined, that's a 1 in 4 shot to win if you make it that far.

Nick Games and Sports (GaS)? I loved that channel. It also had some obscure game shows like Think Fast (especially the first season where everyone looked like a gross nerd, the host was a black man, and there were a lot of jokes about Ronald Reagan, especially in the locker match game. Season two had a white guy as a host, no political humor, and average looking kids), Finders Keepers (the one where you have to find hidden objects in messy rooms).

I think "Finders Keepers," and "Fun House"(not a Nickelodeon game show) inspired LOTHT. After all they're all shows where kids have to get through a big building to find things.

It was my favourite show. I think I watched it in the repeat telecast in early 2000. I always supported the red jaguar because my favorite colour is red. I still sometimes try to find out the old episodes to watch and have fun....

Almost....there's a reason you had runs such as Bullet Riddled Handbag of Belle Boyd, Discarded Seal of Ivan the Terrible, and Missing Portrait of Hans Holbein...to make it very difficult to win. Funny enough, despite their attempts, they still blew the budget on all 3 seasons

Had the worlds biggest crush on Kirk when I was a kid (and was ignorant of the world), he had the smarts (at least during the time of me being a child I thought he had the smarts, not saying he doesn't now, but a big chunk of stuff he knew would of been researched etc by writers and what not so he just read the script) and was good looking, so to me, looks and a brain was my perfect guy...still is but now I just care more about what I see in a guy than just looks and a brain. XD

This show was actually similar to "Fun House," where 2 teams of 2 would compete in games for a chance to go through a big house to gather stuff for prizes, only the games were a lot more messy. The messiest anyone ever got on LOTHT was soaking wet. Before LOTHT, Nickelodeon also had a show called "Finders Keepers" in 1987 where 2 teams also competed against each other to go on a room romp in a big house to win cash and prizes. Mostly the 2 teams competed in searching rooms in the big house for objects described in clues. But I think those 2 shows helped inspire LOTHT.

they filmed 5 shows a day. they did all the moat then the steps then the games then all the temple runs. i think it took them like 14 hours. so the kids would get tired and all waiting.

The exact numbers, if I've done the math correctly: 120 episodes (40 each over three seasons) 32 wins (12 in Season 1, 10 each in Season 2 and 3) 17 reached artifact 14 triple captures by guards 67 out of time runs 20 solo runs (although 4 of them didn't result in a win, twice running out of time and twice reaching the artifact without getting out) Red Jaguars: 20 Temple Runs, 4 wins Blue Barracudas: 19 Temple Runs, 5 wins Green Monkeys: 24 Temple Runs, 8 wins Orange Iguanas: 25 Temple Runs, 4 wins Purple Parrots: 11 Temple Runs, 3 wins Silver Snakes: 21 Temple Runs, 8 wins 15 separate layouts: nine in Season 1, five in Season 2, and one continuous layout in Season 3 Of the fifteen layouts, only one (Season 1, Layout 5) had no victories at all, with the teams going a combined 0-for-6 in that layout. Red Jaguars (Season 2) and Orange Iguanas (Season 1) both went 0-for-6 in their runs those respective seasons, the Blue Barracudas went 0-for-5 in Season 3, and the Purple Parrots went 0-for-2 in Season 1. It took the Purple Parrots *72 episodes* before they finally had a win. 6 winning runs were with the minimum one pendant, and 15 runs overall; most successfully in Season 2, with three wins in six instances with only one pendant. Surprisingly, only two teams got caught by all three guards with only one pendant.

Gameshows actually purchase insurance against winners. This is why Regis would always push contestants to go for the $1 million. Because if they get the million, the insurance company pays. If they decide to walk away with the $500k, then the show pays. I wonder what kind of insurance deal Nickolodeon had for this show. Seems odd because kids always wanted to see the kids win but they never did. I think they could have worked out a better deal.
