@@mariog7213 not really. They're mostly random Chinese companies pumping out junk that fails in a year because the case if unfinished and full of metal shavings and machine oil. There really aren't any watches that can compete with Seiko in the $250-550 price point. Citizen can, but they don't really like to stay from Eco-drive.

LOVE YOUR SEIKO DIVER BUT HATE THE CLASP???? Hmmmm....Come hang out today and check out a bracelet upgrade. I got a lot of interest so I thought it deserved a stand alone video. Apparently people search this a lot. Hope you all enjoy. Was testing out new lighting in this video as well that you'll see in new videos. *but there still 20some old videos not LIVE yet. So dual purpose for me. I think I like the light in this vid. -falling

Thank you, this is such a great hack. I couldn't get the bracelet on my SPB143 to fit quite right. The original clasp is really long and even with the micro-adjust it was always a little too big or small and shifted over to the edge of my wrist. Switching out to a MM300 clasp was magic. It's a bit bulkier (not much), but more importantly it's shorter and has that great adjustment on the fly. Plus, the steel on the OEM MM300 clasp matches the darker color of the Diashield Seiko bracelet, which isn't true of any aftermarket bracelets that I've tried. I've been looking for a better bracelet, turns out all I needed was a better clasp. I'm going to do the same thing on my SLA051 next. Thanks again.

Just recently purchased the SSK003 blueberry GMT and followed by adding the Marine Master clasp to the stock bracelet. Definitely agree with you on this clasp . I actually think this is the best adjustable clasp made for a watch .

Good job on the video. I really can't understand Seiko's insistence on not suppling better OEM clasps on their watches. Whatever the cost increase, I've never been able to find a single Seiko fan that would not gladly pay the slightly increased price for a better clasp from the manufacturer. When it comes to the link attachment system, I have a different outlook. Since I have NEVER experienced a failure in any split pin or screwed equipped watch bracelet, (and I've been at this hobby a long time) for me, ease of sizing outweighs any promised additional security. Thumbs up given!

i'm going to guess seiko does everything in house so they have a huge stock pile of parts lol. Maybe they are working on a screwed link bracelet but we wont see it for a while because they make it themselves? just a wild guess.

Well, it just happened (finally): ordered new clasp a few weeks back, arrived today: after the usual tedious bits of installation (Note: while the Jubilee-style bracelet on the Seiko 5 Sports GMT *is* cool with its solid links & end-links, getting everything back together takes a bit of patience), I can say this new combo is fantastic. There's another watch YTer who doesn't quite understand the fuss over this stuff, but he wears his watches looser than a sailor in the French Quarter. Thanks for the inspiration!

For me it’s a toss up between the two watches, both are beautiful. The Willard is the more iconic of the two. Buy both but then, which one to wear? Clasp is a worthwhile functional upgrade.

What spring bars did you use to attach the bracelet to the watch? Is there any play or wiggle introduced as a result. The bars on my MM300 are very small in calibre / thickness. I am wondering what would work for attaching the Seiko clasp to my Stapcode bracelet which has thicker spring bars. Also - the other main negative for me is the length of the mm300 clasp. Dramatically exceeds the lug to lug of any watch. And with all that length they could have added more micro holes! It's nicer than I was expecting however with all the negativity in reviews.

@@EscapementWatch Just a note to anyone thinking of upgrading, you may have to push out the micro adjust for bigger or add a link back in when changing to this clasp. The milled clasp is thicker than your typical stamped and you need to compensate for that extra girth.

I showed a rolex style clasp? It shouldn't fit. Those aftermarket rolex clasps all use screw links wont link up properly.

I prefer pin and collar system, I find it easy too. I think all watch makers should provide adjustable clasps as standard, especially on watches costing over 1k. It will become the norm in time though. Although I'm going through a nato stage at the moment, as my spb151 is a strap monster. Great vid as always .

I have the Willard but I’m missing the S/S bracelet. Original one is £436, any other 20mm seiko bracelets would fit or anything else I have to take into consideration? Thanks

No other bracelets fit right now from seiko as far as I know. Seiko OEM bracelets are INSANE PRICED if you want to buy it without the watch. It almost makes you think its better to buy the whole watch and sell the head! Which is something I did recently lol.

This is only about the clasp. 18mm. This clasp will fit on any seiko bracelet with the 18mm at the clasps.

Is this whole Seiko Bracelet upgrade clasp available for King Turtle Special Edition Save The Ocean Manta Ray? And if so, will it match the color on the watch body?

No I don't think it will work. I think king turtle is 22mm down to 20mm. it needs to be 18mm at the clasp to work. usually 20mm tapers down to 18mm on seiko. but measure the last link thickness to make sure its 18mm.

after salt water or chlorine always give it a rinse with fresh distilled water at home to get the salt or chemicals out. I find really eliminates issues.

Maybe try 2.5x 1.2mm tip spring bars. OEM is 1.1mm tip

because the case is coated with diashield the color of the steel will be off on aftermarket bracelets. so I suggest just getting the oem bracelet off a 143. check ebay/reddit/watchforums or gnomon M197213H0 part number

Are you sure this is an original Seiko clasp? Checked out the eBay listing and the description seems to avoid stating the brand and it is shipped from China.

Not 100% sure, but I did bring in a marine master 300 from kavar jewelers and compared and it's exactly the same. I wouldn't be surprised if they do produce the bracelets in China

@Escapement & Watch thank you. I have found another seller who was willing to confirm that they sell a genuine Seiko clasp. The only downside is that it's 50% more expensive. I had a bad experience once with a fake Tudor clasp which fell apart so I think I'll pay more for the assurance.

My 5Cent and I’m a big Seiko Fan are, please Seiko, make it simple but HQ no buttons, no extensions, no gimmicks just a simple, well built Clasp, miled Links, brushed/polished outside... I think 99% no one uses all this little gimmicks, after the bracelet once is fitted to the wrist and much more than a shower or a pool, most likely 99% of all Diving watches will never see... 🤷‍♂️

With the Rolex Glide Lock it's all hidden. With the Seiko, the extension looks UGLY when extended. Seiko can do better.

Pins are absolutely not the most secure way to connect links. Pins are FAR thinner and easier to bend or shear. Screw links are used on watches that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars for a reason. If they're installed properly, they're 100% reliable. If someone is incompetent, they can fall out.

Not true Patek Phillip in 2012 switched from screws to pins because of broken screws and falling out. No matter how well installed they eventually will back out. As the links move with daily wear, the screws back out in micro increments over time. Engineering wise, it is a possible FAIL POINT. Pins are just the most secure in the world if installed properly. And the best manufacture in the world knows this for their top watch.

@@EscapementWatch agree with this as I've had watches using pins for decades and have never had one break or fall out. Would you say a bracelet using screws needs to basically be maintained on a frequent basis to avoid this ?
