Totally understandable. I had the same thoughts, and after getting this one decided to do a giveaway here on the channel of my Alice pack to someone that needed a good pack but didn’t really have the means to get one. Didn’t want to just let it set and get dusty, and wanted someone else to enjoy it as much as I did

Thanks man. After taking it on its first outing a few weeks ago, I was really happy with it. Gotta adjust my gear load out a little and get used to the pack, but I was loving how it felt and handled for an overnight trip. Was definitely worth the wait and money

The color of this pack is Adaptive Green. It looks tan but w the brown accents, it fools the eye. I like coyote brown but this color looks good

I have this pack too. My only negative is I wish the rain cover was reversible. Orange on one side and Coyote on the other.

That’s an interesting idea. I understand why they chose the orange, but that would be a great option for those times you didn’t need to be so visible. Great idea!

Sorta in no mans land for me...they put molle webbing on the sides with very limited use once the side pockets are used with a taller bottle like the 40oz KKanteens, and they wasted all the space on the front panel with literally nothing, just one little webbing strap. I like the capacity and the color, 35L seems to be in the sweet spot for me, But I went with the Highlander Forces 33L Rucksack, I liked the Olive Green better and the side pockets don't take up inside space when stuffed.

Thought about it, but wanted to give someone else the chance to use it and get some enjoyment with it. It needed to be out and in the woods instead of collecting dust

Thats a good question, and one that I dont have a good answer for. It initially does not appear that you could do too much with it, but im sure something could be tucked behind the straps or hung off of them like a carabiner. you couldn't put too much weight on them, or else you would pull the strap out of the holder and make it hard to secure the lid. I don't have a good answer, but I bet some of the other viewers might. Cool thing is your only limited by your imagination with it

I would buy the savotta over this one because savotta the medium you can. It has a zipper on the side so you can get into it from the side.

Never got to put my hands on one, so I can’t say for certain. The side zip would definitely be handy, but I think the changes they made to the pathfinder pack, for me anyway, made it more useful for my purposes. I definitely wouldn’t snub my nose to a Savotta though

Nice review sir! I want this pack. I missed the first batch. It may not completely replace your alice but its lighter and the 1000D nylon is tough! Nice military grade buckles and straps! Rain cover is multi purpose which is nice. The extra bed roll straps was a nice touch too. Hope it serves you well.

Thank you. I missed the first batch too, but had the alert set as soon as the second one came in. And I didn’t know the straps were included when it got here, so bonus! I agree, it can’t replace the Alice, but for what my goal in a setup is, I believe it’s going to suit my needs and go beyond my expectations

I have the savotta medium pack and the pathfinder pack ive swapped to the pathfinder they are very similar but where the savotta falls short the pathfinder excels

That’s so good to hear. That was the theory I had for getting the pathfinder pack. It seemed they looked at the Savotta medium and added features I thought were lacking too. I’m glad to hear someone who has had both chime in on it

Came that way. They figure that orange would be good for either signaling for rescue or a very noticeable waypoint for navigation

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I don’t see anywhere on the site that tells either way. More than likely it came from a Chinese manufacturer. If it did, it wasn’t a cheap piece of junk. I haven’t even seen one stray thread anywhere on the pack. I have heard Dave state before that the Chinese are experts in textiles, and this thing would be a good example of that. Self reliance outfitters is an American owned business in Indiana, so you would still be supporting a small American company.

Not a big fan of the colored, and though I'm sure it's pretty nice, it just looks like a cheap bag... Something a child in cubscouts would be using.. Great for kids... Serious kids, but kids...
