It certainly is an impressive location. It does get used heavily, but if you can get there early or off season its a great spot to enjoy nature.

Thank you Eva! I had the opportunity to tour the Grey Towers myself some years back, and it was a really neat place. Starting to seem some nice colors especially reds in the trees, this is a beautiful time of the year. I would love to have October last year round!

Some of the spots in the beginning I kind of weaved my way along the streamside, thought I stayed on obvious paths others had created. Seven tubs is super cool, but it has become very popular, and is used alot by people for swimming. I would advise visiting early in the morning or mid week or in cooler temps to avoid those that are there to party, and not appreciate nature .🙂

@@WALTERZOLNA I try to do things on Tuesdays, but people are everywhere. This is only an hour drive for me. Thanks for sharing this place. I will give you credit if I make it an episode. Peace & Prayers.

I appreciate your message here, it's a good one. Hiking with another person isn't really an option for me most of the time but I understand the jist of what you are saying. Slip and fall, is potentially fatal and one of the only concerns I have when going out into the woods, my biggest fear of all being the lowly tick. I was wondering upon my recent trip to Minnewaska why the park doesn't open till 9 am. As I took in the views from cliff after cliff it occurred to me that perhaps it's simply an issue that the park is too dangerous to navigate in the early morning or evening. I'm not surprised at all to hear about a slip and fall death there.

@@WALTERZOLNA I think Minnewaska isn't open until 9AM because it takes time for people to get up there, and sometimes the weather can be a problem. The slip and fall thing might account for an hour. I don't know. I heard of at least three slip and fall deaths. Yosemite, the decomposed granite underfoot caused someone to fall off El Capitain. A person climbed over the wall next to the road of Storm King Mountain to take a picture and slipped on black ice and fell 500'. A young photographer fell off Cannon Mt. in NH when he got too close to the edge and fell off. I will not get close to the edge of a cliff. Why do it? It would be my luck that a rock that has been there for 12,000 years would finally give way with my weight and that would be it. Granted these deaths are rare, but usually they are stupid, needless, deaths. Regarding ticks. My wife has a huge fear of them. However, it is rare that they kill you. I was a teacher and had a number of students with severe cases of Lyme Disease. They had to drop out of school. They did recover though and eventually return. As you know, untreated Lyme Disease can lead to horror stories. I'm sure you know the precautions, cover your skin, spray deet around any cuffs and exposed skin. My brother got a mild case. He got a shot and it was over. I was bitten and found the tick 12 hours later with no ill effects. It was behind my knee. I was gardening and kneeling down to plant plants. I was wearing shorts. Stupid is as stupid does. (Forrest Gump). Ticks are another reason to have someone along. You need to be checked all the time. Many of the trails are through woods and do not have underbrush, like Minnewasks, but many do. I sent you a video about a guy who got his foot stuck and died. There was also that guy who got stuck in a slot canyon and cut off his arm with a pocket knife to save his life. (Ouch!) The longer you live the more you hear. Hear is another one. People you meet on the trail are usually very nice, but there can be assholes and criminals out there too. Many years ago there was a case where two young women were killed on a trail in California. Then there was the Atlanta Bomber, Eric Rudolph, who was in the mountains for at least a year. There was anothe story of a young woman who was hiking alone, raped, and then cut up. They got the guy. He was an actual crazy. I have seen guys with rifles stapped over their shoulders. Why they needed rifles in the summer in the East was beyoned me. They kind of freaked me out. If someone gives you weird vibes, just keep going. To us, the woods are a wonder, beautiful, God's miracle, and all that. To locals, it is nothing unusual and some assholes may use the remoteness and cover to commit thefts, and other crimes. Someday, just for fun, stop at a State Police station and ask them a few questions. I think they can all tell you stories, which rare, did happen.

PS. I had childhood friend who became a cop in the Adirondacks. He once told me of two friends of his, husband and wife, who were traveling and camping across the south. They were murdered in a State campground in Alabama. I don't think they ever caught who did it. My wife is afraid of guns and we do not own any. However, if I had a different wife, was young, etc. I would buy some king of handgun to just carry in a holster. If someone sketchy came up to me, I would make sure they could see it. I was thinking a 44 magnum, but they are pretty heavy. On the other hand, one could stop a bear. A Glock may be a better choice for hiking. Yeah, this is pretty far out there and may take away from the experience, but you carry other things. Do you carry an emergency beacon device to contact people to rescue you?
