My life changed when I came home from school, turned on the telly and saw THIS. God bless the Sex Pistols.

I remember watching the Sex Pistols on TOTP in 1977and being hooked, I still play their music and still fancy Johnny Rotten!

I watched this with my dad when I was 11, my dad said he liked the guitars and backing with punk bands but said they couldn't sing.

Tv eye studios.this is were the video took place johnny singing 1950 microphone,and granny shades very cool,sid sticks his tongue out for fun, blink and you miss it, Steve wears his notted handkerchief on his head, as a working class pride, sex pistols are legends.

Absolutely love the Pistols. That being said, having Sid in the band was the nail in the coffin. SId couldn't play bass, stoned or sober, but he looked cool? Call them posers, but even Generation X could play their instruments.

Totally correct! When you kick out you're main musical songwriter (Glen Matlock) it's not gonna end pretty - the band was finished 6 months later - I look at this and, as much as I love their 76/77 work, they've really just become a different version of The Monkees, with the amps turned up and the sneers and outrageous whatevers. "Anarchy in the UK" is in my top 20 greatest rock songs list.

@@Borella309 the monkees? they were a copy of the beatles who never really wrote angry songs but i still liked them

according to Glen Matlock (the writer of music) his inspiration for the riff was "SOS" by ABBA

There wouldn’t have been a Punk scene without them, UK or the US. they changed everything. It’s funny when people talk about the NYD’s starting Punk, maybe, but no one would have remembered them because they were rubbish and didn’t influence really anything.
Don't ask us to attend, 'cause we're not all there Oh don't pretend 'cause I don't care I don't believe illusions 'cause too much is real So stop your cheap comment, 'cause we know what we feel

Clearly lip synching to the studio recording. Wonder how that made Rotten feel. Amusingly, the bass on NMTB was played by Glen Matlock. Sid Vicious came along later for the tour. He couldn't play bass.

Where's the totp audience? It looks like this was pre-recorded without an audience and maybe shown on a video screen in the totp studio.
@45rockinwax4 ай бұрын
Yes probably because if they went on live there would be some kind of trouble.

2:00 *John Lydon was recruited because McLaren was told (by Westwood) to look out for a crazy guy called John that comes into the shop - that John was John Ritchie (Vicious), but McLaren thought it was the 'crazy' looking Lydon - just another one of Malcolm's stuff ups*
