This week Pastor Andrea Sarafan continues our look at 1 Corinthians, the Open Heaven series, with chapter 6. The sexual ethic of Jesus is such a difficult topic in the times we are in. We have all been created as sexual beings, and likewise we have been deceived by the culture around us. One of the lies we believe is that God is holding out on us. Sexuality is part of us, but it is not the heart or core of us. Intimacy with God is what we truly need to thrive in life. We are promised fulfillment through Him alone.

As a sex addiction recovery coach, I can trace all of the sexual brokenness back to identity. Who you are matters. Who God has designed you to be is so crucial in dictating appropriate, sexually healthy and behavior. I'm thankful there are churches who hold to the Word of God about this issue but do it with grace and understanding.

I wish more people knew, accepted, and followed this message. When I talk to other Christians about this topic, even churchgoers, I get accused of being “legalistic” or “fundamentalist.” I’m glad some people still believe in following what the Bible says about sex, even when it’s tough!

You guys have to check out the Copenhagen school guys like Thomas L Thompson. Greek is an older language than Hebrew, The Septuagint legend that you’re familiar with was made popular by Josephus and it’s not historical. The the Jews had their own stories but they were using Greek stories as part of their foundation myths. The linear a script from Minoan Crete is 3600 years old, the Hebrew that you see today was made by the Masoretes only 1000 years ago . Prior to that they were using the Phoenician script. Hebrew was a dead language,until the time of the Maccabeess. Then it was used more frequently again, but most Jews spoke Aramaic or Greek, if they were fortunate enough to learn it during the time of Jesus. Anyway, the point is if you want to know the mysteries, you’re going to have to look at the Greek.
