The Shack Controversy!

The Shack. It’s playing in theaters all across the country this week. And like several past Christian-topic-themed films, this one’s igniting not only tons of conversations, but tons of controversy as well. Here’s the sticky point: the controversies aren’t as much in the scriptural accuracy of the movie, as they are in the responses of Christ followers! @CurtHarlow explains.

People who are speaking the truth are saving other Christians who have watched the movie and thinking that's how God is.. A movie with biblical theme needs to have atleast the foundational doctrine right. I'm saying this beacuse I saw people in some churches have a wrong understanding about God based on this movie..

Interesting that contemporary theology has got it wrong. Holy Spirit is definitely female. That’s in the original Hebrew if you care to look. An ancient manuscript found in Nag Hammadi speaks of God coming first as a man and then as a woman. The Shack is about love and forgiveness. Not religious theology.

So I watched the movie and I didn’t mind god being an African American woman, but I don’t really understand the message behind the movie. So who gets punished for doing bad acts in the world? If God truly accepts everyone into heaven then why does a place like hell exist? If everyone can be forgiven then what about those people in hell suffering? The movie basically said that everyone should be forgiven, even criminals and murderers. I don’t have a problem with the movie cause it’s just a movie but what I’m saying is, do we go to hell for doing wrong?

You go to hell for rejecting God, choosing instead your own will for your life which coincides with the ways of the world. God asks us to forgive, because unforgiveness only burdens our hearts. There is nothing you gain from unforgiveness. He asks us to forgive because Jesus Christ forgave us all, who are undeserving and we should reflect that in our lives as well. But that doesn't mean that our actions don't have consequences, rather we are accountable for all our thoughts and actions. In our own strength and our own wisdom we are incapable of fairly revenging against people that cause harm. God is the only fair judge, he asks us to leave the revenge to him. Romans 12:19

God identifies Himself as male. Full stop. Please read the Bible, it will answer all your questions and more. I promise. Start with the New Testament, it's easier. It will be the best book you ever read!

Sitting on a fence that doesn't exist. This book does not represent The God of the bible. God the Father is presented as a large African-American woman named Papa who likes to cook and listen to “funk” music (90-91). Jesus is represented as a clumsy middle-aged Jewish man who drops a large bowl of batter on the floor and splatters Papa. The Holy Spirit is presented as a diminutive translucent Asian woman named Sarayu. "Contend earnestly for the faith".

I 100% disagree with the whole movie, but hey that my choice. One of many things I like about being a fillieer of Jesus, is I don't have to agree with anyone if I don't want to. Don't be quarrelsome. But you will be. Everyone does that believes. There's always emotional heated debates that will always be taken out of context. I watched it to learn more about new age, lW of attraction apoligia..

The depiction of the Holy Spirit as a Hindu God and God being represented as a black woman was bound to offend some people especially the conservative Christian fundamentalists.

HE made no sense. Keep it all the way scriptural. And be fired up about all the other stuff he said too. But God isn't a woman! And we have to be angry about theological issues. 1 and 2 Corinthians, 1 and 2 Timothy all of John's epistles delst with these issues. Let's not fight to get along with people who blaspheme God.

finished it, good movie is in line with bible. I am so sure I know why some people hate it. they want to paint god as something evil. that says obey me or you will go to hell and suffer. I always believed children just went back to heaven with god paul even said it for him to die is gain. the movie doesn't discuss hell, doesn't say its not real. it talks about gods love for man. anyone who reads the bible knows his love for us makes no sense. the lengths he has gone thru to save us. jesus while on earth didn't focus on telling people get right so you wont be punished. good movie , does not go against the bible in any way.

hmm..are we not reading the same Bible? I recommend praying for guidance as you fail to see the truth. Nobody is portraying God as evil. Yes you will be punished and go to hell if you don't obey Him. The movie leads you to believe that there is no hell. ALL Jesus did was to ask people to get right!!! You are so deceived!
