The whole group gets boost when Lilirara shows them the memories of patch Hao, it's not stated, but it's why Yoh and Ren have 2700f and 3200f respectively in round 2 (not sure if these are the exact numbers but close to it), but at the end of round 1 they had 270f&320f respectively

The transmuting elements power is possibly my favourite from the series. Would've been real cool if they used it more than once...

@@pegasBaO23 exactly. It’s explained in the series that hao is an Onmyoji, someone who has divinity over all 5 elements. Hao uses this ability to change the element of spirt of fire and did so in the shaman fight against the X-laws. The elemental warriors (yoh and his gang) don’t have this ability

Valid point! Once resurrection is introduced there was really no reason why that wouldn't be the best way to train. Just dying over and over again. It would have been great to see some negative consequences from it

Not exactly true. Ren being brought back showcased that if the process was hurried, you'll still have a scar (and scars actually make a place more sensitive and can affect the muscles), and Joco (Chocolove was renamed due to it's problematic nature), actually became blind though in his case he asked to be revived without eyesight.

It’s not really fast pacing though. You have to understand they only have 52 guaranteed episodes, so a lot of those extra chapters and plot lines that aren’t necessary have to be cut. They have actually been really smart with what they’ve been cutting.

Just to elaborate: -Amidamaru’s full backstory, that I would have actually liked to see animated, really isn’t necessary at all to the plot as it doesn’t really effect the story afterwards. You only really need the basic synopsis. -The extra chapters were really just Yoh going around and helping other spirits. I also would have liked to see that animated, but there’s no way the later half of the series wouldn’t be rushed if those parts were added. -Tao Ren’s Episode 2 introduction. Yeah that threw me off too, but as previously stated it’s necessary for them to cut things now so the series can actually...finish. I hope I’m making sense here, but people have really been shaken by how fast it seems to be going, but in reality they really don’t have a choice. They’ve still be doing REALLY good with what they’re working with, so just try to be patient until it all starts coming together.

@@jodonthesith7172 no that is a lie it is a fast pacing episode 3 they put 9 chapters that is a whole volume in one episode. So what happened there were a lot of transitions from place to place and tao jun appears out of nowhere because they skip her talking with ren. 52 episodes gauranteed or not fast is fast.

It doesn't give enough time for the emotional moments they feel hollow in comparison to the old anime and that is a issue because the strongest point of shaman king is the characters.

Thanks! I think Anna was only sixteen which is a bit 😐. Though I remember someone saying that might have been retconned but I can't remember where. Flowers picks up when Hana is 13 from memory so about that long after the main series.

@Anime Blaze2808 Haha hard one to answer. Hao lost his original body so he doesn't physically age. I guess technically he's over 1000 years old at this point from first life to Flowers. All we see him look like though is what he looked like at the end of Shaman King

@@SeaGee So hao would be chronologically he's 1000 years old then wow. I always thought he looked older in flowers, but he looked the same to me and everyone else aged that's why I was confused. I think he can also go to the living world too anytime he wishes, he can leave the realm of the great spirits too. There was a chapter where he appeared in front of Hana in flowers and he was wearing a kimono which I thought was really cool. I wish flowers wasn't cancelled. I wonder if he'll continue it at some point

@Anime Blaze2808 Me too! Takei has finished up the Death Zero arc in Superstar which I think is going on to be a continuation of Flowers. Definitely want to see where he's going with that story

Thanks Faye! I thought I'd heard some extra details had come out about Hana's birth but I lose track of what's cannon Vs fannon at this point! Yeah I'm glad Takei has a lot of open space to play with the world now in all the sequels. Though I don't know how I feel about there being so so many now! We can only hope the remake will treat the content well. So far it sounds like it's receiving a pretty mixed reception but we'll have to wait to see where it goes!

@@SeaGee agree. Tho I’m kinda theorising that all the spin-offs/ sequels will kinda merge with The Super Star at some point in time. Got mixed feelings with the reboot, too. But as a manga reader, I’m still kinda satisfied as to where they are kinda putting the direction towards. It just makes me nervous that the current projected 52 episodes will not be enough to go in depth with the manga’s complexities. But yeah. Here’s to hoping everything will be alright in the end.😂✌🏻

Sure thing! Hao sends the gang the spirit of fire once he starts communing with the Great spirit. Meanwhile Gandhara are retrieving the other ones from hell. We don't get too many details around how/why they're there but they don't get them to the gang before Hao kills them all. It's after they arrive in the Great Spirit that they finally get them. Presumably from Gandhara bringing them into the GS with them. Hopefully that made sense!

@@notanothercomedian honestly, the manga during the tournament arc is mediocre at best. It showed very little character developments. Yo and his comrades gained power through training and resurrection but the author didn't dig it deeply enough, unnecessary fights, Hao somehow became too OP. The MC and The Villain didn't get developed enough, thus it lacked the tension and at the end of the manga, it is like "oh Hao, you are too OP now, let's just chill, ok ?" and there's the ending. mediocre manga, no wonder it dwelled in obscurity in such a long time.

He seemed to mainly just exist to give lore to the audience in the begining, and while he did have a couple moments, it felt like he just stopped existing after his first visit to hell and gaining Pascal Avaf (Who proceeded to take over the 'here are things you should know', leaving Choco without any purpose).

Not entirely true. It's not Anna who got Joco out of prison on probation, they failed to do that. It was Lyserg who got him on probation, and I doubt anyone could reverse Lyserg's decision. In the newest series, Shaman King Marcos, we actually learn more about what Lyserg and the X-LAWs have been up to after the Shaman Fight, as well as more backstory on Luchist (Hao's right hand man) along with his family. Lyserg managed to work his way up to the MI6. Luchist comes from a powerful weapon traders family that has it's corrupt claws in pretty much every kilitary organization, etc. The Lasso's manage to fire every X-LAW from their military positions, except for Lyserg who hasn't received a call yet or anything that he's fired. So Lyserg seems to have grown powerful enough that he can't be removed so easily. If he manages to keep his job despite of the Lasso's, then I'm sure Joco is safe too. (I'm calling him Joco, because Kodansha actually released the whole series including KZB in English and the manga itself has removed the problematic elements to his character too, with his name being changed to Joco and his mouth being redrawn. Hiroyuki Takei clearly has come to understand how problematic it was)

Also, about Joco's character development, not every character really needs one. Joco's a static character, and there shouldn't be anything wrong with that. Most of his character development seems to have took place prior to the Shaman Fight, when he became a Shaman with his old master. I also think Joco going to prison IS a way of changing the world though. Joco was already a changed person when we met him, however, one of the beliefs they all go by, even as adults, is whatever you do, will come back to you. Joco experienced it with the Golem kids, but that wasn't his only crime. Joco knew those would also come back at him one day, so instead of doing something like hiding from his past, and looking over his shoulder all the time for the day the cops would be coming for him, he decided to confront it. Which brings me to him changing the world. Several X-LAWS go back to the military in the hopes of changing corruption from the inside out to stop war crimes. Joco is stated to have grown a very well-respected and possibly feared reputation in prison as Mr Wind. Prisons often only make people worse by the time they come out. I imagine Joco trying to reform criminals inside of prison and trying to make sure they don't slip up again once they're out. I feel like Joco being saved by Lyserg (an X-Law) rather then one of the gang, was a nod to Joco having decided to use the system to change it for the better, and trying to get criminals to turn over a new leaf like he did.

You make some points about his character development based on his origin backstory of reforming from a gang leader to shaman, however, this didn't fully set him straight, as he was hiding his shame by falsely taking on the persona of his former teacher. He gained some growth, but it was not very significant. Yes, he goes to prison to try to reform inmates, but its a very miniscule sacrifice and contribution to trying to change the world by stagnating himself in ONE prison, compared to thousands around the world. He was a joke, and wasted character, as he played less of a supporting role in the story compared to the other main 4 shaman. Again, even his name is even very revolting, as its very misnomer to black culture and cleverly pokes fun at his ethnicity. Chocolove Mcdonnell, seems like a clever racist pun for "Blacks Love McDonalds". Of all the shaman characters he did the least, and Choco even makes note of this in later chapters by stating he's hasn't done much. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Oh no as a black person I definitely caught on to this … buuuuuut that doesn’t change the fact that he has 1 of the best character designs in the series. I also really like his character arc. His bad actions came back to haunt him eventually. He wanted to change and become a better person. How can you expect to change the world for the better if you can’t change yourself you know? That’s most likely the example he wanted to lead. Plus I really like his character how he went from a remorseless serious thug who could kill anyone in cold blood to someone who wants to spread joy in the world through laughter
