This is the story of Jen Shah, who operated a nationwide telemarketing scam that targeted vulnerable and elderly people for ten years, before getting caught while appearing on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
Apologies for this being up late- there were issues regarding copyright.

@LividImp
@LividImp Жыл бұрын
@@joycedominguez8997 Because this isn't TV? The general format of delivering video and audio is not what is being discussed here. Sure, it a form of content similar to TV, and if it only featured the kind of programming you'd see in TV/cable, then I would consider it the same. For that matter, if TV offered the kind of choice and quality I can find on KZfaq, then I wouldn't have got rid of it. Pretending KZfaq and TV are the same is like pretending a prison chow hall and a fine steak house are the same because they both serve food. Not saying everything on YT is a fine steak, there is LOADS of prison chow on here too, but I never have to see it. And the few good things on TV you can often find here as well. Thus further eliminating the need for TV. At this point I've found more quality channels than I have time to watch, and I'm a house husband that has all day to watch if I so choose.

I've been a massive fan of Georeg's work for ages now too, both comedy and documentaries. On the whole, I don't think that his format or style has changed that much for a while. Some subjects are much more recent and have current footage to edit in. Others like the Sacklers / oxycontin or uber videos use old-timey footage as a really effective storytelling technique, which I really really love. Either way, I think we're both fans. in case you wonder about the deleted response it was me and not something offensive. They don't like busting MLMs because there is a "product" ("frauduct" is what blogger/lawyer Salty Droid called it) that they "sell" (really, force down people's throats) and the existence of HerbaLife powder, crystals, pre-paid legal cards, The Video Boss, etc. makes them doubt that this is truly all a scam. And in turn with time ,society at large becomes noticeably more horrible, too, as it tries to emulate the ppl in these shows.
@skontheroad

The shows are produced by people who then shop them around to the networks, who then purchase them. That is why The Kardashians are now on Hulu. And Project Runway switched networks (same producer, btw). The Kardashians may be mindless tv for morons, but they are not criminals. And as ridiculous as they are to watch--and they have been purchased by networks, and are viewed, all over the world!--they all work damn hard! This woman is a whole different ballgame!

Having time to turn yourself in isn't unusual for a white collar crime. Best part is that she'll serve at least 85% of her sentence and then be "babysat" by the feds for another six years or so - which means she'll have to get permission to do pretty much anything - i.e., no more last minute flights, no starting another sham business, etc. She has been neutered lol. @@NASkeywest But the OP did not say that the person who stole was given anywhere near the same amount of time for the crime. In fact, given, it is technically a felony. Felonies in most jurisdictions that I am aware of have a minimum of one year prison time. And the OP said, "over a year in prison". This suggests that it may have been under 18 months. All this suggest to me that the person caught in question received a minimal amount of time for the crime. But the OP seem to infer that the thief should have received little to no time in prison at all. I was not there for the trial or sentencing. So not know if the defendant could have received lesser time (or even parole) if the defendant may have been more contrite about the crime (the OP did not suggest that it was a wrongful conviction); had a better lawyer; or had a lenient judge. My bottom line is that while I concur that the con artist should have a greater conviction for her crime, the thief should not go unpunished.

So, she did the *same* as 99.9% of the corporate world. Had she just set up a Moodle site with all that training, she wouldn't be in prison-just rich. Education is *never* virtually nonexistent. Would anyone say that about a university degree?

Apollo on RHOA was an ex-con married to Phaedra, an attorney. He married Phaedra after getting out of prison for fraud. During the show he claimed he had a business, but would never give any details. Sure enough, he was arrested and convicted of... fraud. Of course.

They have devious minds. Lacking morals and scruples helps immensely too. They're sociopaths.

To kind of add my own answer to the other reply you got: There are people who do things that I - and you, presumably - would never do. Things that start with an idea that I - and you, presumably :) - would instantly discard because it's just an idea only a worse person than I - and you ;) - would actually entertain. Those worse people who do entertain it then expand on it and build on it. I am - and you are 😋 - smart enough to do these things. Likely not sufficiently well-connected with the right kind of people, because those are also bad. But smart enough. Creative enough. Etc. I, personally, possibly also lack the money to even start at least some such things. Maybe you don't. I *could* kidnap cats that roam the city around here. I *could* then offer my services to "help find them". I *could* just show up at the owner's door and either hope for a financial reward or just ask for one. I *could* . But I *won't* .
