The Sharpest Studs in Football 😳🩼

Most football boots have small plastic studs, that don’t hurt very badly when you get stepped on. Then there’s these… It’s called the mullet stud, and believe it or not, it’s completely legal… First designed for use in rugby, this style of stud slowly grew in popularity amongst soccer players. Most notably, Cristiano Ronaldo, who was spotted donning a particularly sharp set during training...
The idea is that, compared to a standard round metal stud, the mullet-style allows it’s wearer far better grip on both hard and soft surfaces. At a certain point, one has to start asking, is a marginal improvement in grip really worth the potential damage these could cause? #ronaldo #football #soccer #futbol #futebol #cleats #viral #fyp #test #explore #usa #custom #footballer #soccercleats #mercurial #footballshorts

it's not just about more grip, mullet studs can be rotated so that you can customize how much grip you have, where, and in which direction. so someone who likes to pull ankle breakers could have extreme lateral grip on the inner sides of their feet, while someone who wants straight line speed could point all of their studs back and have maximum forward grip and minimal grip backwards

@@FailedEmmisionsyet people still get cleated all of the time, I've seen more injuries in baseball than I have any other sport. I got cleated 3x in high-school. I was playing 3rd base putting a tag down. One kid faked going for a slide, planted his foot then stepped out directly onto my left forearm with the other leg, looked like someone slashed my forearm 8x with a knife, bled quite a bit but I kept playing. Another one, i was playing first. To get the runner out, my foot was barely touching the inside corner of the bag, exactly where you're supposed to out it, I stretch out to catch the bad throw to me and the runner was clearly out. Runner intentionally stepped on my right heel/Achilles. Twisting my ankle and cutting through my sock into my skin. Bled pretty good, I kept playing. The last one, I was putting the tag down on a 300+lbs runner at 2nd, buddy thought he could steal 2nd. He goes to slide late and picks up his right leg and puts the 2 heel cleats into my left shin. That one fucking hurt. Killed the flesh down to the bone, killed all nerved in about a 2"×3" area around the impact. Bled through my socks and pants, and I kept playing. Baseball ain't a contact sport, but people play dirty. Especially if they're losing.

I played rugby and metal studs hurt like a mf, but they don't really injure you any more than getting stomped on would without them. I don't know if it helps much in football, but in rugby you end up a lot less injured pushing into the other guy in a tackle, scrum, ruck, or maul if you've got metal studs that stop you from slipping awkwardly, even if it means getting a few more broken toes. Plus when your plastic studs break you've now got knives on your feet in a contact sport, which only goes bad
@orangew3988

Genuinely, metal studs hurt less than plastic ones. Ive seen a pretty bad accidental injury from plastic studs, requiring surgery to reconnect bits. But from metal studs, its just bruising or the occasional graze. I would much rather my opposition be wearing metal studs

As others have pointed out, plastic shears when it breaks, so it can become even more dangerous than the metal studs, provided the metal studs are being made reasonable in their size and shape, etc. Regulation is key on this one I think.
