My priest simplified the Trinity by explaining it as a human man can be a father, a son, and a friend, but he is still one man. Again, it's simplistic, and yes quantum physics is throughout the Bible. Annette Capps spoke about that topic many years ago in her book "Quantum Faith". We can't understand it all, but it is fun to try figure it out.

Very clear and simple enough to understand. So glad you are tackling this. Great warning on heresies! St. John Damascene in speaking of the Trinity uses Jewish metaphors like the radiance and the tree of life. Then he tells us to not even try to understand these analogies. Pope Benedict XVI said to the theologians - pursue that theme through the theology of God as Substance-in-Relation! The point of the triune God is that the Father in his ethos of self-giving love must give Himself within the Supreme Being because there is Nothing beyond the Supreme Being to give Himself to. Being is all being. Apart from Being is Nothing. And Nothing is truly nothing. Nobody can receive the fulness of God's self-giving but God Himself! Who but God Himself can receive His own omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence? So the Father must self-give within the Godhead to someone who is still God but beyond Father, hence the Son, who is in total receptivity of the Father's self-donation of Being or Life, and who also fully reciprocates this nature of "intending," tendering Being from within to someone beyond one's will (to give), through His perfect obedience to the Divine Will. And so we can say that the Son is the very image and likeness of the Father because He too self-donates all that the Father has given Him, back unto Him. Fathers provide for their offspring, but the primordial definition of father is one who confers his IDENTITY onto his offspring. That is why a father gives his name to his offspring. Divine paternity is the very conferral of Being unto the other - God the Father gives Himself to the Son. The Son is begotten of the Father because He has received the fulness of the Father's identity as Self-Giving Being. And we know that the Son is the very image and likeness of the father because the Son gives back all of Himself in self-surrender (the cross) back unto the Father, an act that gives eternal life to us all! This theology is The Radiance of the Trinity because when Divine Paternity and Filiality are in eternal reciprocal self-donation, Being is conserved and not only preserved but MAGNIFIED into the outpouring of Being. Being radiates from the Godhead because the divine ethos is Ecstatic Being or Being-Beyond-Being. The Father is Being-Beyond-Being because of self-donation. The Son is Being-Beyond-Being because of His total self-surrender to the Father. The Trinity is a communion of love in which to be, is to be in eternal self-donation for the glory of God. And so St. John Damascene explains that the Trinity is the light, the ray and the radiance - a completely borrowed idea from Hebrews chapter 1! All three are one in essence, but the distinction is in the relationship of one toward the other. The Spirit of God, as St. Hilary of Poitiers teaches, comes from Father and Son as the singular Godhead per se. And in the words of St. Paul and John Damascene, God is The Radiance. The Radiance of what? The Radiance of eternal life in an indivisible communion of love. Nothing could ever be more magnificent to ponder on for the rest of one's life than the radiance of the Trinity.

God is the Unique Entity that exists without a beginning, without a possible end, Who subsists by Itself, and is Self-Sufficient. An Unique Entity which has no limitations nor needs. No matter or substance nor shape. No parts. And no imperfection/defects. God has brought into existence the creation, without using any raw material that existed before. And God is ABSOLUTELY DISTINCT from Its creation (whether the material or spiritual part of the creation), and infinitely above it (including space & time) And since God is absolutely distinct from Its creation and infinitely above it: God is, consequently, above anything we can conceive, imagine, think. Since by design: our brain&consciousness can only reach/conceive/imagine realities from the creation, that can be observed/measured. Thus it can't reach this Unique Entity Which "Exists" by default, subsists by Itself, is Self sufficient, and caused the creation and maintain it into existence

Jesus answered, "The first is, `Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.'....Mark 12:28-30

Hi Daniel. Have you already seen The Chosen? It's a series about Jesus with a clear and strong Jewish context. At last! For example, in the 3rd episode of Season 1 you can see Jesus who asks a group of children to pray with the Shema. Btw, the role of Jesus is played by Jonathan Roumie, a practicing Catholic.

St. Augustine saw a child digging a hole and putting sea water in the hole. The child told St Augustine what he was doing. St. Augustine said that it's impossible to put all the sea water in the world into the hole. The child replied that it's easier to put all the sea water in the world into the hole than to understand the holy Trinity. The child then disappeared

The most Holy Trinity is a metaphysics and beyond our tiny little mind. But, the Kabbalist that are the metaphysist and cosmologist in Judaism explain the Shema and strengthened the idea of Trinity long before the Church Fathers. In Zohar 2:43b we could see the explanation of Shema and the naming of YHWH that revealed to the Kabbalist.

@@Adri-242 So Edmund miss the understanding of Jewish cosmology and hurting a bunch of Jewish Catholic that refered the basis of Trinity and it prafiguration in Zohar. “Hear oh Israel, YHWH, our Lord, YHWH [is one]” (Deut. 6-4), thus, all is one. On this He is called One. These are three names. How can they be called one? Even though we call them one, how can they be one? Rather, in the vision of the holy spirit it is known, and these in the vision of the closed eye, to know that these three are one. And this is the mystery of the voice as it sounds. A voice is one, and it is three aspects- fire, spirit, and water, and all of them are one in the mystery of the voice. So too, “YHWH, our Lord, YHWH,” these are one. Three aspects, and they are one. This is the voice that a man produces in the unification, to draw his desire in unification from ein sof until the end of all, with this voice that is made with these three that are one. This is the daily unification that is revealed in the mystery of the holy spirit. And several aspects of unification are aroused, and all of them are true. One who performs this, performs, and one who performs this, performs. But this unification that we arouse from below in the mystery of the voice that is one, this is the clarification of the thing in principle. (Zohar 2:43b). If he says it is beyond the understanding of what is written. We, never see in Old Testament that YHWH is attributed with the word Yachid (one as a singular number). The Kabbalist material was already translated and accapted as the interpretation of Old Testament teaching long before Edmund was born. Such as a Catholic Kabbalist named Pico della Mirandola, that instructed by Pope Innocent VIII to translate the Kabbalah material or Pope Leo X that instructed Pietro Galatino to compile the Kabbalist materials in his book named "De Arcanis Catholicae Veritatis". So Edmund base argument is simple to dismissed.

@@Adri-242 Also His word and His Spirit. Clearly Old Testament mention the existance of The Word and The Spirit in Genesis 1:1-3. Also when God creating the universe from the day 1 to day 5, God create it by "saying" this is not an empty order. Look at Psalm 33:6 that mentioning by the Word of the Lord, sky has been created, this indicate that what He says when the creation time, is not just an order but its also a noun that belong to God. What is belong to God also eternal and without begining and end. So Word of of God is an eternal and not seperated from God. The formula of Word of God that mention in John 1:1-14 is true then.

He’s one divine Mind and one Will. Hence He’s one God. However, the manner He relates to Himself is the source of the multiplicity of His Persons. Namely, His relations of self-knowledge and self-love. To illustrate, the Father is distinguished from the Son and vice-versa because of the self-knowledge relation. The Former (the Father) is and exhausts the “Knower” end of the relation, whereas the Latter, the Son, is and exhausts the “Known” one. Reason discovered these relations and placed them under logical or virtual distinctions. However, divine revelation has already let us know that these distinctions are more than merely virtual or logical, but are actually REAL.

@@Adri-242 quotes from the sources You mentioned aren’t very convincing when there are multiple Jewish scholars, ranging from reform to Orthodox, a Tosafost, rabbi Mosheh ben Chasdai taku, and possibly more Rishonim admitting to Multinitarian Theology and/or Deific Embodiment in The TaNaKh. no Trinitarian that i know of would argue that The Word Trinity exists in the TaNaKh or Apostolic Writings, but neither do Words like Eruvin, Chagigah, ‘avodhah zarah,” and other Jewish terms, yet Rabbis would argue the concepts are Biblical. in The TaNaKh we have a Mal’akh who is individuated from Hashem in Shamaym, yet identified as Hashem, and the K’var Enosh in DaniEl 7 who is individuated from The Atiq Yamim, yet rides on the Clouds of Heaven, just like Hashem does in multiple places in the TaNaKh and we definately have The Ruach Elohim/Haqodhesh mentioned which i don’t remember if This Ruach is identified as Hashem, but idk Who else the Ruach would be. if One choses not to be a Multinitarian and/or an Eloqist that’s His or Her decision, but there is definately Biblical and extraBiblical evidence as to why someone would Conclude with such Theologies.

@Zach Fanton actually in any religion you have different currents&intepretations, which can often be opposed. So the fact that you can manage to find some scholars who agree for a "multinitarian" theology doesn't mean at all that these kind of theologies are correct.. And btw on the other hand how many scholars disagree with it instead ?..

THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD HE SPOKE UNTO HIS SERVANT MOSES “I AM”: “And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.” Exodus 13:13-15 JESUS CHRIST IS THE SAME WHO SAID “I am”: “Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.” John 8:54-58 THE LORD OUR GOD, THE ONE AND ONLY GOD, SPOKE UNTO HIS PROPHETS “I am he”: “Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.” Isiah 43:10 JESUS CHRIST IS THE SAME WHO SAID “I am he”: “I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.” John 8:24-25 “Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. There is not a single verse in the Bible that supports the idea that God is 3 seperate persons ???
@VincentVu846
@VincentVu846 2 ай бұрын
Not separate but distinct. Separation implies they can be taken apart, distinction implies that the persons are different, yet cannot be broken. In this case, the persons are different in relation to one another, yet they cannot be separated or broken since they are united under one singular divine nature.
@grahamtopfuel
@grahamtopfuel 2 ай бұрын
What do you mean by distinct ??? as it's a very vague concept. What is distinct ??? When you say distinct does it mean the Father. Son and Holy Spirit each have their own centre of consciousness and will and each have their own personality. Two Humans can share the same Human Nature but they are still two humans not one.

@VincentVu846
@VincentVu846 2 ай бұрын
@@grahamtopfuel Yes, I am saying they are their own conscience as we see the persons interact with one another, meaning they are different in that respect. Nevertheless, they are unseparated from one another because each person has the same divine nature that makes God God. Btw God isn’t the same as a human isn’t he 😅

In "The trinitarian God" written by the Jesuit Edmund Fortman: "Old testament doesn't say anything explicitly or by necessary implication about a trinitarian God which is Father, son and holy spirit. There is zero proof that a sacred writter even suspect the existence of a trinity within The Divinity. The LORD is numerical 1. Your first video is accurate. The trinity evolved in 325ad - the nicean council. They did not know more than the disciples who spent 3 years with Messiah. There is nowhere in the bible claiming God the Son or God the Holy Spirit. Nowhere does the Bible mention trinity. If the trinity is equal, why is Jesus a son? That would make Him unequal to the father. Jesus was crucified because He was understood to be blasphemous - making Himself equal with God. My brother, following Catholicism is moving backwards. The trinity is confusing because it is just that. The LORD is one.

Peace be upon you, I am a "polytheistic" Muslim technically speaking, but I have taught to say, "Hear, O People of the Name, He-is our Gods, He-is united. Blessed be the Name of Allah even of His Son the Anointed Redeemer, even the Name of the Salvation of the Kingdom of Allah for time and [for] eternity. But do not commit excess in your religion nor say about Allah except the truth. Indeed, the Anointed Redeemer the son of Mary is Apostle of Allah, and the Word from [Allah], which [Allah] sent down into [the womb of] Mary, and the Spirit from [Allah]. So believe in Allah and His Apostles. And do not say, "[The Anointed Redeemer is] Three [Lords]." It is better for you to desist. Indead, Allah is One God, [so, indead, the Anointed Redeemer is also One Lord] Glorified is [Allah], because Allah has a Son, [the Anointed Redeemer] for whom [exists] everything in the heavens and everything on the earth. And [the Anointed Redeemer] is sufficient before Allah as [our] advocate."

Also when God creating the universe from the day 1 to day 5, God create it by "saying" this is not an empty order. Look at Psalm 33:6 that mentioning by the "Word of God, the sky were made", this indicate that what He says when the creation time, is not just an order but its also a noun that belong to God. (bidbar YHWH, בִּדְבַ֣ר יְ֭הֹוָה) What is belong to God also eternal and without begining and end. So Word of of God is an eternal and not seperated from God. The formula of Word of God that mention in John 1:1-14 is true then.
