Leadership lessons from brother Hamza, what a blessing! Jazakum Allah kheir! Please brothers and sisters, take good note of what's mentioned! I've transcribed what's been said: 1. Have a vision. ◦ Vision = articulation of a powerful, motivating, achievable stretch goal. ◦ = where you wanna see the world, and where you wanna see yourself in where you wanna see the world. (eg a world led by islam. And personal: that I am led by islam, and can lead by islamic principles) ◦ vision should be based on: ▪ the love of Allah (should be for his sake, seeking the best in this life and next) ▪ Certainty in Allah swt and his messenger pbuh (should be based on core islamic principles, and unwavering belief in Allah and his messenger) - we affirm tawheed, and we rely on Allah. All that happens is from the will and power of Allah swt. ▪ islamic values. Should please Allah. Should ask always: what is most pleasing to Allah in this context. This will elevate the barakah. There is a hierarchy of what is permissible. Not just seeking the halal, but the Most pleasing of the halal to Allah swt. ◦ Benefits: ▪ provides focus and direction - you know where you’re going ▪ clarity - you know how to get there. ▪ Gives you life - especially if you connect your vision to the pleasure of Allah swt. Oh you who have believed, respond to the call of Allah and his messenger, to that which gives you life. ▪ Removes doubt - as your vision is based on certainty. ▪ Saves time - you know what needs to be done. ▪ Helps shape your environment and your social circles - because your vision defines you. And so, the way you relate to other people will be based on it. ▪ Provides motivation and keeps you going - because you have a vision; you see the end goal. ▪ Helps you transcend petty issues and life’s obstacles - because your vision Is the bigger picture, and it’s linked to Allah’s pleasure. What’s most pleasing to Allah - not just about yourself. ▪ Gives you a framework for decision-making; because your life will be in line with your vision. ◦ Key questions to build your global world vision and your personal individual vision (which would link to your world vision): ▪ where do you want to see the world ▪ where do you see yourself in where you want to see the world. ▪ What are you passionate about? What are you competent in? What drives you? What do you desire? What do you think and talk about the most? What is important to you? How do your close friends and family describe you? ◦ Before you even answer these questions, think big. Think big means think akhira. Link your vision to the hereafter. The hereafter is eternal; this dunya is temporary. ▪ Allah tells you to think big; to seek the best in this world and the hereafter. 2:200, 2:201: There are some who say, “Our Lord! Grant us ˹Your bounties˺ in this world,” but they will have no share in the Hereafter. Yet there are others who say, “Our Lord! Grant us the good of this world and the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire.” ▪ also in hadith; “if you ask Allah for Jannah, specifically ask Him for the highest level of jannah - Firdaus” ▪ think big, because Allahu Akbar - Allah is greater. • Greater than our percieved limitations, our limited experiences, and what we consider to be obstacles. Everything happens by the will and power of Allah - nothing escapes His irada and qudra. Do not be bounded by your negative self-talk and perceptions - rely on Allah, Who is boundless and free from limitations. ◦ To think big, look at the example of the Prophet pbuh; hadith: “This matter (Islam) will reach every place touched by the night and day. Allah will not leave a residence except that Allah will cause his religion to enter it, by which the honorable will be honored, and the disgraceful will be disgraced; Allah will honor the honorable with Islam, and disgrace the disgraceful with unbelief”. His vision was that Islam will enter every home.
