It’s a traditional Japanese instrument called “shamisen.” It has only three strings. We won first place more than forty times in national competitions. Hope you enjoy the brother and sisters trio performances!

Beautiful. It was Yoshida brothers that introduced me to Shamisen, that magical sound of that instrument. Taking that i can play guitar and banjo, i decided to get myself a Shamisen and now, there is not a single day that i do not use it. Every day, for last six years i play it for half hour or so. Amazing how calming and relaxing i feel after. Taking that i had a lot of depresion problems before and i was told that music was best way to solve it. Now i no longer feel depresion. Enjoying every moment i play on Shamisen, or my other instruments (Guitar and Banjo). Bravo to Shibatas, love your vids. Thank you.

Is this like a well-known/traditional song in Japan? Forgive my ignorance. First heard the shamisen in the movie Kubo & the Two Strings and fell in love. Since heard the shamisen girls Ki&Ki perform this song so got curious!

I think it’s a very popular shamisen song. If you were to tell me you listen to shamisen music but never heard the song I’d sure be shocked. Not sure how popular it is in Japan though.
