Yes, our wedding cost was between £15,000 - £ 20,000. On reflection I would have definitely stop anyway i.e family or friends presumably bypassing me as opposed to going through my wife because they couldn’t get their way.

Maybe we need to do a singles event. A number of our friends have the dilemma that you have. Given a lot of people in our community have a similar mindset, it may be a great environment to meet people.

Marriage...is it also worth it legally do you think? Are there benefits? Another question: if you are already commited to your partner, example, you bought a house together. Is that not enough commitment? What is the added benefit to follow up by tying the knot? Not being cynical I'm genuinely interested in the answers/opinions

It's a sacred commitment. You make important vows, etc. Two also become one spiritually. Plus, legally, it has many advantages including for tax reasons.

I personally don’t believe it’s horrible spending moderate money on a wedding. Mine was amazing and had no regrets. It was not until I was married anyways we had more savings to buy a house. Life is in stages and a mortgage is a life debt basically anyways 😂. A house comes with great responsibility also

That's just bonkers! It's more about impressing other people when that amount of money is being spent on one day. Fair enough if the couple or their family are loaded but if that's not you, why put yourself under financial strain for years to come?!

I’m not saying all marriages will fail. But it has a divorce rate 45.5% in the us and 49% in the UK. Now if sky diving has that kind of failure rate statistics. People won’t really go sky diving: Bill May 😂😂😂
