Why would anyone believe in purgatory? Everything Jesus accomplished on the cross allows you to go straight to heaven. We can’t be good enough or save ourselves. The blood of Jesus washes you clean of all sins when you repent .

By your logic demons who are in Hell are more involved in our lives than our brothers and sisters who believed in Jesus Christ who is the Resurrection and Life and who are more alive in Heaven. They dedicated their whole lives serving God, His people and His Church. Also the way you put it makes you look like you still live by the Old Testament. When the body touched Elisha’s bones, the man came alive, stood up, and walked out on his own two feet." Although prophet Elisha was dead God still used him as an instrument to bring about healing in this case raising a dead man back to life. That's why we have relics in the Catholic Church, that's why we believe that God still uses those who were faithful and accepted Christ, lived by His Word and were full of the Holy Spirit who sanctifies us that we may one day join them in Heaven through Christ our Lord and Saviour! Hope this will shed some light and help you understand why we as Catholics pray for eachother the way we do, why we especially pray for the ones that have gone before us and why God still can and does use various means to help us to grow in the love of God and neighbour. And: Samuel 7:12 "When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors". And: 1 Kings 2:10 "Then David rested with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David". And: Mark 5:39 "Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. 39 He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.” And: John 14:2. "My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am". Conclusion based on what the Bible says: Those who have died are asleep in the grave waiting for the return of Christ. Nobody goes to Heaven, or Hell, or Purgatory immediately upon death. There is no need to pray for the dead, they do not hear you. The Final Judgement will decide their fate. This is Biblical but contrary to what the church teaches. Pray for God's guidance and strength to help you daily.

Pray with faith hope and charity. God is Lord of time so it never too late even to pray for the deceased long gone. At judgment God accounts for everything, even prayers not offered til a future date are known by Him. God guide you on your pilgrimage to reach Truth.

If you cannot attend the Mass daily you can attend the Mass online. I do know that this is not the same thing than attending the Mass personally in the church and receiving the Holy Communion, but it is better than nothing . You can also adore the Blessed Sacrament online .

Unless God allows it. I man I worked with died. He came to me in a dream, shining, youthful and healthy. He told me that the Angel of the Lord allowed me to come back to tell you something, which he did. He prepared me 2 years before a major turning point in my life....the terminal cancer and death throes my father would go through. It all came true exactly as he told me.

The dead refers to lost souls. Souls alive in Heaven can be petitioned for prayer. How do we know who is saved in Heaven? The Catholic Church investigates the lives of people before declaring that they are saints. So we are free to ask St Francis, St Joan of Arc etc to pray for us.But l agree we must not consult the damned ! Let us always pray for deceased relatives and loved ones. Respectfully, Protestants typically do not pray to saints or ask for intercession, partly because of Deuteronomy 18:10-12. But I respectfully acknowledge the differences in interpretation.

The label *purgatory* is given by the R.Catholic Christian church although subtle references (which are not very clear) are made in the bible. **Just remember, God cannot look at sin because of His purity, the vast majority of mankind have sinned up to his/her death - hence have blotches on the soul which need to be cleansed/purified before gaining entrance into the divine realm. Being in Purgatory and not eternally damned into the lake of fire, means one has been saved & will ultimately be in unity with God ONLY after the blotches have been removed in Purgatory .

This verse refers to calling upon spirits, say, in seances, psychic exhibitions, etc. Souls that come from Purgatory are asking for prayers. That’s the difference.

I see the cross as a graven image and don't subscribe to that type of faith. I did pray for my parents and still do from time to time, but not to the holy mother, to Jesus only. I don't wish my parents any ill and will ask Jesus to protect them. For the dream, it may have just been a dream, I was under a lot of stress. If someone goes purposefuly to talk to the dead, that is wrong. This woman was given these communications in prayer, she did not ask for them so she didn't know when and how any of these things would happen until they happened. Also, it doesn't mean her perception of things that took place were accurate all of the time. But overall, no doubt she was of great benefit to holy souls in purgatory.

You are not required to believe that this woman communicated with the dead. I find these things interesting but I don't wholesale believe them. For every person who thinks they communicated with the dead and has a message that I want to believe, there are 10 who claim they communicated with the dead who had a message I don't wish to believe. Orthodox reject the doctrine of purgatory but they do not reject Church practice of prayer for the dead. They don't see a reason to bring too much detail to the doctrine, but in principle they believe it.

@@PrzybyszzMatplanety If the souls you pray for are in heaven, they don't need your prayers. If they are in hell, your prayers won't help. Logically, there's no reason to pray for the dead unless there's an intermediary state. The early Christians prayed for the dead, and Church Fathers affirmed and expounded on purgatory.

You misunderstood. The Kennedies were Catholics, they didn't just carry a rosary around, they prayed on it. Not that I know how much they prayed, but since they grew up Catholic they must have used those beads for praying at least when they were little. The rosary is a prayer.

Soul is eternal and body is not. Your late ancestors' bodies are in grave but their eternal souls are in Heaven, in Purgatory or even in Hell. Everything depends on God's will

The soul can die: Matthew 10:28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Daniel 12 The End Times: 13 “As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.” Samuel 7:12 "When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors". Mark 5:39 Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. 39 He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep". John 14:2. "My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am". Since Christ has not come back for you, you (soul) are not in Heaven upon death. The conclusion is that you are asleep in the grave upon death and wait for Christ to return for you. Immortality is given only after the Day of Judgement and if your name is not in the Book of Life you are cast into the Lake of Fire and consumed/annihilated, gone forever. The soul dies. This is what the Bible says and it is the opposite to today's church preaching.

Forgot to mention: souls are not eternal (like God), but immortality is given to believers in Christ after the Final Judgement.

If you are a Protestant and if you will die in the future you will change your mind sbout late Maria Simma and about Purgatory.

Sima did not contact them. They pray to God and God answered them about the souls.

If we die but have not adequately tried to control our inclination to sin we may need purification after death.God has a plan for us but if we fail to adequately cooperate with this plan we may not reach Heaven until we have spent some time ridding ourselves of attachments to sin. Matt 18v34-35 and in his anger the master handed him over to the torturers until he has paid the last penny.

@@heliandme Luke12 the parable of 4 servants. When the master returns one servant is rewarded for his faithful service, one is cut off for his abuse and two suffer varying degrees of punishment but are not cut off completely. This is another lesson for us about Heaven,hell and Purgatory. Who do we look to for accurate interpretation of Scripture? The Catholic Church , not our own or anyone else’s opinion. Blessings

Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them". This has nothing to do with Haven, Hell, or Purgatory as the Catholic church claims". Just read what it says in conclusion.
