My dad contracted polio when he was 2 in 1947, at that time a health crisis was happening and all parents were worried their children could contract the virus, as my father developed a high fever, my grandmother took him to the hospital and the doctors quickly diagnosed him with polio and treated him with medications they had at the time, it was enough to stop the virus from spreading to others parts of the body, but the damage caused to his left leg was irreversible, the sequels of the viral infection in his peripheral nervous system of the left leg made that so his leg would not grow with the rest of his body, as he got older, he made a total of 8 surgeries in a painful procedure that broke his bones to extend the leg, each time he made the surgery he was plastered for half a year until his leg healed. He was never able to run, but he loved to play futbol as a goalkeeper and swim at his teens. He still needs to use a device that makes his left leg higher to walk because his right leg is 3 cm longer than the left, but he never complained about it and always talks about the importance of being vaccinated. Glory to the vaccines and health professionals!

Just discovered this channel today and have already watched quite a few videos, very informative stuff that is all properly sourced and explained exceptionally well. I wish that more of the teachers I had in school were able to express themselves this clearly and effectively.

Well to be fair, this is scripted and rehearsed, and has plenty of visuals to help explain, while teachers don't have time to put together a whole video just to explain a quick question or get help from professionals and experts. It's kind of an unfair fight, don't you think?

I have an enormous scar after I got vaccinated on 10th day of my life. My parents say that on this scar was also big bubble. Not pleasant side effects, but side effects from actual disease would be worse.

I knew a guy in Boy Scouts who was 2-3 years older than me, and he told me he couldn’t be vaccinated when I was 12. It blew my mind how that could happen, but it makes sense all these years later. Love you for more information I didn’t know, Kurzgesagt!

I got measles and chicken pox as a kid 🙃 it was the most miserable time of my life. I also proceeded to make my parents life the most miserable time because I had to be quarantined from the rest of the people in the family... which meant I slept in their room since they were already immune to it. Also my mother made me get them because apparently it was better getting them than getting a vaccine. AKa, they asked the sick kid's family to play with me. 30 yrs later, I"m not surprised my mother is a huge promoter of "it's better to get covid than get a vac". Still surprised considering her compromised immune system with cancer and chemo would have made me think that she would campaign for it and not against it.

The covid thing is at least somewhat true but still wrong Technically it is better to get covid than to get vaccinated because the efficacy is higher but it's much more risky so it's better to just get vaccinated and then get infected as a booster

Remember, even if you dodge the vaccine and prevent harm from it, the danger from the disease is STILL THERE. You can still get the disease, and are at higher risk for complications. Meaning you have to cross the road of exposing yourself to risk at SOME POINT: the risk from vaccines, or the risk from the disease. I for one, would feel better choosing the probably less risky option and be done with it, safe in the knowledge that I've substantially reduced risk in the long term.

I recently had a fairly serious reaction to a flu vaccine. Basically for the day afterwards I had mild pain all over my body and I was exhausted both physically and mentally. It was a pain and I got nothing done that day, but I will happily trade one day of productivity if I don't have to face something worse that will last a whole week.

C'mon, while sure it _may_ happen and _may_ be caused by the vaccine*, it's still far safer to just get the bloody vaccine, and we end up with fewer dead kids. (* as the video and further reading says, there aren't any studies proving this, only anecdotal evidence by people who aren't doctors and typically do not have much medical knowledge)

Honestly right I have ADHD and people can never tell if I actually do or don’t It was genetic and I only found out recently that I do have it If you are scared that Vaccines may cause ADHD or Autism, you are wildly wrong about how serious certain side effects could be If there was a chance you could even get ADHD or Autism then the effect of it would be so obscure that you wouldn’t notice until they grew up and that’s where I believe the misinterpretation comes in People think the vaccine caused said Autism or ADHD but in reality, it had just taken years until it finally began to be noticeable enough and wrongly accused the vaccine Because the age of vaccination would roughly line up on the time people could finally start noticing oddities within their child

Most of the brainwashed grow up to be some provaxer slaves, technically guinea pigs for others smarter than them, but at least they might say they have payed attention in class. And sometimes they complain for their bad health conditions, go to doctors. Its better to prevent the diseases, curing real vaccination side effects tend to be pretty hard.

Why do you so obsessed with revoking people's freedom of choice. If other people choose to get themselves and their kids vaccinated because they believe that's best for them, that's their choice. Would love to see a video made about the immune system in someone who is immunocompromised. Explaining why it's important to vaccinate. There are some of those in the immunocompromised community who are unable to get vaccinated, depending on their health condition, others who are immunocompromised who can get vaccinated, but the vaccines don't protect those who are immunocompromised as well as it does with the immunocompetent community. It would be interesting to see, and a great video for those who live with, have family, friends, students, coworkers who are immunocompromised. Just in general, would be good to know. It's not something that is talked about enough. I know personally the struggle, as I am immunocompromised due to medications I take for a chronic and debilitating autoimmune disease, Ankylosing Spondylitis. Going on year four since covid began in 2020, and I still face with pushback.... SMDH.... Grateful for healthy boundaries, doctors, specialists, science, and those friends and family who have been supportive.

Careful about being caught up in dogma in either camp. My concern is permanent brain damage by any source including social, environmental, or pharmaceutical in developing brains has not been completely ruled out. You may think or feel like we have the science, but we still don’t know whether if we should eat eggs or not to lower cholesterol as just one example. at least this video does say that a small number of the population might be at risk. Maybe more research should be done in order to protect those who would have a bad outcome from these medical interventions and try to protect them.

@@Steel9k I think I didn't make my point very well that the orthodoxy changes depending on reasons that usually have nothing to do with science, but on some sort of comprised study financed by a lobby group or an organization motivated by profit. Did you see the recent study about "fortified" eggs? This too happens in "other" industries as well. We should stay vigilant and keep asking the questions that never quite get answered because that's how science should work.

Years ago, little brother contracted measles from the vaccine when he got it. My mom told me that the doctor said it was a 1/1000000 chance for that to happen or something absurdly small like that. My brother is healthy today and it did not discourage my mother from giving us vaccines at all. Can we thank all the mom’s that vaccinated their children for their special day today! Edit: Just asked my mom if it was a weaker version of measles that my brother had, she said it wasn’t! She has pictures and said that the CDC (center for disease control) has a case on him. She also told me that the doctor did not believe my mom at first and said it was the first time he’s seen something like that in his 40+ years of being a doctor. Also thanks for wishing my mom a happy Mother’s Day! I wish all the same to your mothers.

Actually it is not that unlikely to have symptoms connected to the disease after being vaccinated, after all you have the virus (in a weakened form) in your body. It might look like it made you sick but it is more like a mock-attack to train your immune system.

In any case, even severe vaccine side effects are likely better than contracting a disease like measles, polio, or pertussis (whooping cough), as well as other diseases, which can all have lasting effects. If you actually do the minimum of research into the data, you quickly realize that it is much better to be vaccinated than unvaccinated. We eradicated smallpox for a reason, and we were/are on the way to eradicating measles and polio, as well as others, until the antivax movement made that much harder.
