FLIGHT #4/4 ALROSA TU-154M RA-85684 POLYARNY (PYJ) - MOSCOW (DME), AUGUST 24, 2018
Announcements on Social Media for event flights on Soviet Classics within Russia always come on too short notice.
Getting a visa, getting leave from your employer, shifting plans, especially if you live as far as Japan, are the most common reasons for a “No No”.
After missing the Kosmos TU-134 pleasure flight from Zhukovsky, there was another announcement that the Izhma TU-154M RA-85684, operated by Alrosa Avia would perform a Farewell rotation from Moscow to Sochi on a weekend in August.
I had barely four weeks ahead for planning, yet the decision was clear, this opportunity was not to be missed, by all means.
Simon De Rudder and Mikhail from Alrosa were the mastermind behind this idea and after getting my Russian Tourist Visa, it was off to Moscow from Tokyo via Frankfurt.
In 2018 Alrosa is still operating scheduled flights on TU-154, TU-134, AN-38, AN-24 and helicopters from their operational bases in Mirny and Udachny.
Sampling these beauties would require a 10 day itinerary, which I am simply unable to afford, not taking into account the usual unexpected changes on short notice.
Making things worse, filming and photographing opportunities are extremely limited on these remote locations.
A foreigner travelling alone without prior official arrangements, is always under suspicion and high risk.
However due to the kind invitation and extraordinary hospitality provided by Alrosa and my special friends Mikhail and Alexander, I decided to add a rotation to the Far East to Mirny (MJZ) and Udachny (PYJ) in the week following the Sochi-rotation on short notice.
As the mini bus broke down in the middle of nowhere inbetween Mirny and Udachny, I ran a high risk of being stranded for another five days in Far East Siberia with limited connection to the outside world.
Finally I arrived at 2 AM in Udachny catching a 4 hours sleep before getting ready for the return flight to Moscow.
Despite previous arrangement for airside video taping, all arrangements were cancelled in the last minute by security officials at Polyarny Airport without any given reason despite endless efforts of Alex to make the impossible possible.
All footages at Polyarny Airport were made on own risk and the author of this video feels no longer committed to mutual agreements.
This video features the return flight 6R 516 onboard TU-154M RA-85684 from Polyarny-Udachny (PYJ) to Moscow (DME) on August 24, 2018, the last time RA-85684 to operate on this route.
This video is the uncut and original version.

This TU-154 is a soviet legend plane, worked almost 55 years in the sky... I flew first with TU-154 in Dec 1989 from Yakutsk to Kyiv, with overstop landings thru Kemerovo and Kurgan for Christmas Holidays with my classmates as I was just 13 years old. Very nostalgic, because for a teenager it was like a lottery win!

I’m born in the 21st century, and I probably won’t have a chance to experience such retired soviet aircrafts ever in my life. Thank you very much for documenting it so that those like me could experience classic aviation. It really means a lot.

At first, when I read that this is the original, uncut video, I thought you'd filmed the entire flight. Now, I know. I really appreciate all that you did film, too.

Also, nochmals danke.

Sehr gerne! Sie finden Dutzende ältere und neuere Videos der TU-134A/B in meinem Kanal. Auch mir ist die kleine Schwester viel lieber. Alles Gute und viel Freude beim Stöbern!

I love hearing the birds outside there. I didn't hear any when you were in Sochi back in May, 2003 if I can remember correctly.

I'd love to hear more about those pilots: Did they get medals for their heroic efforts to put safety first? I'd hope you've got more recordings that'll keep us informed, because they truly deserve medals for their outstanding service and professionalism, not to mention their courage and quick, calm thinking. Thanks so much for these wonderful documentaries.

Yes, they were awarded medals „Heroes of Russia“. That is the reason I included the media footage to illustrate the special history of this unique plane and people.

I was also confused, because this documentary was on another video along with this extra footage of the helicopter and more. Did you intend for it to be repeated on this video? I think this was also on the video with the Tu-134A3, but I may be wrong. I've listened to quite a few of these videos in the past 12 hours. I also think the audio quality is better than the original, too. Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into making these, because this is history worth preserving! Happy New Year!

Yet one year ago, 7th of September, 2020, I made double flight by RA-85757, Mirny - Irkutsk - Mirny. By the way, it was the 10th aniversary of emergency landing in Izhma. I didn't buy tickets purposely because of this date. It was only coincidence. But I did buy them purposely to get to Tupolev. So pity that probably it was my last flight onboard Tu-154.

@@icealliance94 I didn't tell that RA-85757 had landed in Izhma. I just told that the 7th of September, 2020, was the 10th anniversary of landing in Izhma, and, coincidentally, I took double flight at that day. Just it.

Sorry, but I have one more point. During all these silent moments, I can't help but wonder what's featured as far as videography? Being totally blind, I have no way to skip to the next part where there's audio again, so it would be really helpful if you could please include time stamps with those incidents where the audio stops and once it restarts. I know I'm probably asking a lot, but it just helps me and other blind listeners who really appreciate hearing the sounds you feature in these videos. My text-to-speech software will allow me to press the "enter" key if those time stamps include links. This really helps tremendously, because it's much harder to use the mouse without any vision, and I have no way to use hand gestures. Please let me know if/when you update the description or pinned comments, whichever you prefer to use. I truly appreciate it.
