As someone whose only exposure to The Silence mod is your videos, I agree with the general sentiment that the previous version was better in most ways. In the previous version, it feels like there is a malevolent entity who is both hunting you and toying with you. Like every now and then you can slip the net by keeping quiet, but even when they know where you are, they're more interested in messing with you than just outright killing you. It does a good job of creating atmosphere by letting you generally go about your business, but having just enough presence that you never forget it's there. Like an out of place animal cry in a cave, or a chuckle on the wind, and only sparingly showing itself to peak the tension. In this version, it's just constantly in your face with cheap jump startles, which isn't good horror, it's just preying on human instinct to respond quickly and violently to sudden changes to environment, both visual and audible. At best it's now a challenge mod that very passionately tells you when you're doing it wrong. It traded legitimately good atmosphere and tension building for cheap reaction bait. The current version is barely any better than the rest of the deluge of garbage "horror" mods and creatures that have flooded Minecraft that basically amount to "I attached a loud sound and a (poorly edited) jpg to an immortal hyper aggressive creature." I hope they roll back a lot of the changes, because the previous version was legitimately one of the best horror mods in Minecraft I've seen so far.

I honestly think that the reason it was so random and rapid in the nether is that by all technicalities the nether is an “enclosed space” also forests. Definitely needs a lot more work on the AI and its rate in general.

From what am seeing, I can understand why the update wasn't well recieved. It seemed to trade the atmosphere and slow build up seen in the previous video with very rare monster apperances, and trade it for a cheap jumpscare spam whenever you don't "follow the recommendations" (and sometimes even when you do), as other people have said, and the Nether seems to bug it out badly and cause it to constantly jump you because it seems to count as being 'inside' thanks to the roof.

If the jumpscares were more of a mind game and not just a jpeg it would be better, and if it had a soundbar on the side to know your sound level it also could be an amazing improvement

I have seen a lot of youtubers make videos on the update of this mod. The problem I think is that they tend to do it with friends. I believe the mod developer stated that currently this mod would be very buggy in Multiplayer. And normally with those videos of multiple people playing together with this mod, the monsters and jumpscares tend to happen every 5 seconds and it becomes more aggravating than scary. For both the ones playing and the ones watching. This caused so many people to viciously dunk on the mod. But seeing you play with it on Single Player, It clearly shows that the jumpscares and monster spawning doesn't happen nearly as often (Except in the Nether for some reason idk why) And for a good while the atmosphere felt pretty tense. It kind of makes me sad how because so many people are playing multiplayer which causes a ton of bugs in the mod. Because it makes the mod seem worse than it actually is from the eyes of a viewer who may not know about the problems it has with multiplayer and just assume the mod is obnoxiously spamy all the time. I feel like this video somewhat gives the mod justice, but I do kind of agree that I think the monsters spawn rate should be way less than it currently is. And also maybe don't force players to crouch all the time like this.

Maybe you could get some stone bricks or deep slate bricks and use them for the foundation of the house, then it looks more stable because it’s resting on stone, You could chop the trees down next to your house and shear some leaves and put some leaves and farmland around your house, You could create a small path leading up to your house, You could make a little boat dock in case you need it, Maybe you could make the floor a different color, like the warped wood from the nether or something! Just a few ideas! :) Keep up with the videos man you rock! :D Also maybe adding some different wood types sprinkled in could be cool, like dark oak, or just oak.. or something. Also you should totally get some red and white carpet for your house that would look awesome Using lanterns to light up your house instead of torches adds a little flair too! I think the biggest thing that could make the house look better is making the walls roof and floor all different kinds of wood (if you care that much)

It's pretty cool to include all of the mods you use. I haven't focused on mods for years. You forgot the mod that alters hiding mechanics. You see, holding your breath when monsters come by doesn't help you nearly as much as you hope. If you hold your breath for too long, you can hear your heartbeat in your ears. And then they can hear your heartbeat in their ears too. Tips aside, so many of these horror series are so intricate now. Compared to the early SCP and creepypasta days, you have entire short films, animations that would have broken mainstream media if they came out a handful of years prior, ARGs, massive undertakings that tend to have a lot of effort when the core idea may not be the strongest.

You can sprint jump while crouching to move faster without making any noise, so you can press sprint and jump at the same time and crouch in mid air, i think you don't need to keep the sprint button pressed if you keep walking forward, but if you stop you have to do that again, so in the end keep pressed forward shift and jump to move fast, you can also not jump if you want, you may be able to sprint in mid air to prevent the change of it hearing you, so press all the buttons at the same time, could also keep pressing the sprint while shifting, whatever its easier for you 👍

Its a smart mob and stalks you, mimics ur voice, etc. I think it's right up you're alley fr. This mod and the man bear are completely different from the "dweller"(shitter) mods that are boring imo. I saw you've got a couple new episodes, so I'm sure you've figured this out for yourself lol, but usually if you're in the water for less than a minute you're completely fine. I had to swim around for like 15 minutes before the distant demon finally killed me. I've been trying to research the more current versions of the mod, but have had little to no luck finding comprehensive information, but it kind of makes sense considering how new the mod is. The one thing I've had a lot of trouble seeing anyone talk about is the player, Robert, that the warning in beta 2 mentions. I'll have to watch your next two episodes to see if you end up encountering him.

Hey Icy, can’t you build a house on water and none of the monsters will spawn? You can put dirt blocks on top of seaweed and make a tree farm. Only occasionally you’ll have to come to land to get seeds and animals and whatnot. And if you wanna use those nether ruins if course

I do agree with the comment of the update isnt too well received for me it just seems way to often and I know its still in development but it bugs for how many times it jumpscares me and then trys to chase I still think the mod is one of the better ones
