THE SIMPLEST HAITIAN POTATO SALAD|| SALADE RUSSE|| HOW TO MAKE BEET SALAD
2 carrots
2 beets
4 potatoes
2 eggs
1 cup of Mayo
1 cube of Maggie
1 tablespoon of water
1 teaspoon of oil
Onion
Bell peppers (all colors)
Medium high heat 6/7
Boil whole carrots 10 to 15 minutes
Medium high heat 6/7
Boil whole potatoes 20 to 25 minutes
You will know when they are finished by inserting a fork; it should go through easily.
Medium high heat 6/7
Boil eggs 9 to 12 minutes
Medium high heat 6/7
Boil beets 45 minutes to 1 hour
You will know when they are finished by inserting a fork; it should go through easily.

I’m now realizing that a lot of Caribbean’s make this salad and call it by different names I know many Cubans who call it a Russian salad but it’s fun to see how we all put our own twist on this recipe

Love everything about this, try baking your beets drizzled in olive oil wrapped in aluminum foil. The color to your salad will be rich and you conserve vitamins and the natural sweetness of the beets making the salad mmm mmm good! Great job mama!!!!

The last time my father made this, I left it out for a few hours and it went bad 😭. Given of said circumstances, I highly recommend moving this masterpiece straight to the fridge whenever you can. I will certainly follow this recipe the next time i m in the mood for some potato salad 🤤

I have never heard or seen a Americans make potato salad with beets.

@@cookingwithfreddie #1 that is NOT an answer, and while beets are not a feature in a "Classic Potato Salad" putting them in one doesn't make it "Haitan" , beets are indigenous to cold climates. #2- many Caribbean countries use beets in their salads- get to know more people and observe #3 - This is typically an Eastern European style, Ukrainians sometimes add green peas #4- I am Polish and Russian so- once again I ask, what is "Haitian" about this recipe ???

Why are you so upset? In Haiti it is very popular and most likely due to history. We call it Salade Russe in kreyol and try translating that and that is self explanatory. So that tells you that we KNOW it doesn’t originate in Haiti but it is a cultural custom that somehow landed in our country. We have a lot of history with countries like Greece, Poland, Lebanon and Russia that the average person doesn’t know about. Do the research. Ask your great grandparents if you care so deeply. Also Dominicans, Peruvians also make this and believe it’s native to their country but it prob isn’t. But what makes it ours is probably ONE ingredient that others don’t TYPICALLY use

So that’s what my title will be and that’s what we call it. If you put Haitian potato salad in the search box on KZfaq my video is not the only one that comes up as Haitian potato salad cause it got beets in it. So again this is Haitian potato salad. Good day
