I for one was pretty upset that at E3 a few months ago, they had a Simpsons panel where we thought it was gonna be a big reveal of Hit & Run 2 but it was just to showcase the latest update for their mobile game Tapped Out instead, SMH.

Hit & Run will always be one of the crowned jewels of licensed games. A sequel would have been interesting, but then would come the concern of setting expectations too high.

i can say without a doubt in my mind i believe hit & run is the greatest (if not then at least top 3) licensed game ever made. the scope of content, faithfulness to the source material, and replayability just hold it head-and-shoulders above the rest.

he said that when he shut Lucasarts down, which is why we only get Star Wars games from EA, when Star Wars should be outsourced to many different devs through Lucasarts as the publisher.

I wouldn't get bothered yet. With Disney's aquisition of LucasFilm, they got the rights to Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle, and Full Throttle, yet despite that, all three of those games got remade thanks to Double Fine.

@NombreGenerico777 haha. Someone answered for me. Yeah he's right. He also said it in some magazine interview when asking about shutting down Disney video game department. But sometimes we do get random games through because of luck. Recently we got aladin and lion King remasters because the love action films. But it's sad when the CEO of a major corporation is moronic enough to think a multi BILLION (YES billion) dollar industry I just a fucking dad. So many people look down on gamers and video games. It's such a out dated mindset.

I remember reading a Game Informer magazine way back 15 years ago, a tiny section of them talking about a possible sequel to The Simpsons: Hit and Run and it was in talks. But then that was the final mention of it.

If they ever remake it, it should be called, “The Simpsons Hit and Run: Refueled” kinda like “Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom: Rehydrated”. They’re both great games with huge followings, I think it’d be pretty cool if they did that.

Oh, so that explains why Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction was so fun. This team really knew their way around an open world interpretation of a licensed IP. Ultimate Destruction was just fun to run around and cause havoc in. Is there any higher goal for an open world game to aspire to?

I’m surprised that there was no mention of the Simpson’s Road Rage / Crazy Taxi dispute when referring back to the previous game. I thought that this was part of the reason why no future games were made in this style tbh as this would have occurred just after Hit and Run’s release.

Honestly considering the fact how long it's been when Hit and Run came out and the fact that the original developer company doesn't exists anymore and the rights being in the hands of Disney now, it's a long fetch that a sequel will ever come out. Somethings are never meant to be and this is one of the examples.

I joined Vivendi in 2004 as a tester in hopes that I'd get to work on the sequel, so this video provides some much needed closure on why that deal fell through. I had a few peeks behind the Hit & Run curtain after I joined the marketing department but there wasn't much to see from my particular perch. So then I joined EA in 2007 after I learned they got the license. (I was determined to work on a Simpsons game!) I did work on the The Simpsons Game but it was a bummer when I saw that they abandoned the open world mission structure. It packs in a lot of great material and is arguably more Simpsony for it, but we all know how the gameplay and pacing disappointed. As a tester I only had so much influence but I still appreciate all the work we put into making the game what it turned out to be. One last hurrah for a AAA Simpsons game experience, eh?

My mom does not play video games, but she sure as hell plays this one. I bought a PS2 & this game for her birthday and she was soooooo happy. When I was little she used to be playing Hit & Run when I woke up for school and she'd still be playing it in her pajamas when I got home from school haha.

The controls for Hit and run were great, and that would make or break a driving game. Being able to drift and turn is rather important, and H&R nailed it.

It really does. I always felt like I was doing so much better at missions but it turns out the game was helping me. But it does it in such a great way that you don't feel babied by it. I don't think this counts for bonus missions though, or races. Just the story based ones. The first bonus mission with Cletus from Level 1 never got easier xD

I feel like I was one of the only people who really liked Simpsons: Road Rage. Hit and Run is leaps and bounds better though...but I still enjoyed the previous game a lot.

Same I remember having this game much MUCH younger before but I had a ps1 at the time, however even more fondly times came with my father having a shop and there was the TV to hook my PS2, lots of endearing games but Hit and Run (Which I bought again due to not having it anymore as several years have passed.) Still sticks out as an important part of my younger not as corrupted life. I remember this game cooking my typical saucy hot pocket there, my little brother plays it there sometimes but me and the Boi's (childhood friends.) Hang out playing it... And MAN was some of the levels incredibly challenging/hard more even in the very last mission where every obstacle seeks to stop you sending the waste to the Alien space ship. The songs were also just as memorable some of which stick out today the same way.

It seems to me like licensed games, especially ones based on TV shows, do need quite a bit of time between the first game and the sequel, especially if a majority of the game is references. The two South Park games for example, the Stick of Truth was filled to the brim with references from throughout the entire show up through it's release, while I remember Fractured But Whole, likely to avoid reusing too many references/jokes that were used in the first game, mostly had references from episodes that aired between both games releases.

I loved this game but I seem to remember running into a glitch with collecting the bees. I think that you had to collect 100 or something and I was always stuck at 99. I ended up using a guide and one of the bees was definitely missing.

Never even got past Bart. One particular little near end quest of his I could never do. Still one of my favourite games.

@@pidgeo5 It isn't very good, but I was a desperate Bionicle fan as a kid. If you're lookibg for a boring and cheap game, it'll do for now, but if you're looking for decent quality gameplay, Spongebob or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
